A truly beautiful and mesmerizing project. I can hardly wait to look at the scripts to see how you made the haunting sounds. And it's beautifully visualized. Thanks so much for your fine work!
I've been trying to make a project like this for months!
I shall give up now, because this is beatifully perfect!
Although you say the notes are chosen from a major scale, it seems to sound quite evil toward the "red" notes, does it change to minor?
don't give up! this is just one project- there are infinitely more interactive music projects still to do. You're right about the change to minor (or "evil"). The notes all start out major, but then when they loop, they get moved up and down randomly by half steps, so this can take them out of the major scale.
good question- the y axis determines the pitch, so if you click higher up, you get a higher note, lower gives you a lower note. It picks notes from a major scale. The x axis doesn't matter.
why does it start to go on its own after a while? not all of it sounds like the same instrument which is starnge. these sounds both facinate and deepyl disturb me. as i right this, i had to turn it off because it kinda freacked me out sitting in my dark bedroom all alone with my computer... wow! when did it become night time?!?!?!? that keeps happening!! i keep losing track of time!! wait... what year is it again?
Wow, Eric, this project just completely blows me away! Here I am sitting before my computer for I forgot how long, entranced by these mysterious, interactive yet aleatoric sounds. Few Scratch projects have touched me this way...
lol. I've only heard the word "aleatoric" once, and it was spoken by another lawyer. This really is a perfectly-executed project. It's a good example of a project that works just as well in Scratch as would in any other language.
There's a word you don't see every day - "aleatoric" - in fact, I don't think there's *any* day that I have ever seen it. Had to look it up! :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleatoric

NICE Eric, is this how the iPhone app works too? This is woooooonderful
it's my interpretation of the iphone app, so it's a little different... I haven't figured out exactly what the iphone one is doing- it's pretty subtle
mesmerizing!
