actually, what it does if the randomness is at zero or is closer to zero than one hundred, it points directly at the seed and it grows faster. If you have it one randomness closer to 100 than than float freely and the seed doesn't grow as fast. :)
You can always find out how somebody made a project by downloading it and looking at their code. This one was fun to make- Mostly, the little red dots move around randomly, and if they touch something black, they stamp themselves with a black border, and then reset themselves.
jhnbytwoo: good question! it's not- the color depends on the number of particles that have attached so far (there is a global variable keeping track). You can download the code and look, of course.
rawkrboi made a mod of my original version of this project ((link to project) and also asked if colors could be added- so I tried it out!

This is a simulation of the branching growth of a crystal (also known as diffusion-limited aggregation). There is a "seed" at the center, and the red particles move randomly until they stick to it.
Use the slider to adjust the randomness of the movement. More randomness should result in more branching.
I was inspired by this by project:

(view all replies)Cool but a bit boring. I guess its 10:00 anyway
so cool! but changing the "randomness" doesn't make it any less random. U like how the color changes. it looks really cool

is it using a "Set [color] effect to (distance to[black square])" block?
That is awesome! It makes my skin crawl...in a good way.
Hypnotic.
This is very well programmed, I love it!
