hmm, you added health. when is your current projected date of completion? personally i'm moving on from scratch to Java, but if an alternate text mode is added in scratch 2.0 i will continue to use scratch... we'll see.
Yeah :) It's flash, so you could change the quality. It could be done to any flash game. In mine, though, it doesn't really affect quality that much since the graphics are fairly simple, but it makes the speed way faster.
hey can you come on a minecraft classic server just search "worlds" and click the /Minecraft Worlds one and when you come on say this: Hello!! (say that exactly so that i know it's you) :D
I must say compared to other scratch rendering (in turbo mode of course) this is very smooth and the graphics don't flash, alike some. Very cool and I love that a shooter game is being made in with this project, can't wait for the finished version.
I know it seems like a good idea but his and my techniques are different. I use raycasting while he uses polygon mapping. Also, I am not that great in collabs, I really am just better working alone. I might take in some suggestions and ideas from people, but I don't really work well in a full collab.
It looks funny because of the fisheye distortion. To my knowledge, the equation to counteract that is distance*cos(angle). Here, though, it seems that equation is not strong enough. I can't figure out why it's not working, though.
I got it on launch day (yesterday). I've only played for two hours since I have school the next day and had to go to sleep, but from the two hours I've seen, it's an awesome game. If you have a friend, get him to buy Skyward Sword because it's totally worth it (actually, probably the most totally worth it game of all time). Also, you need to get it fast because they'll sell out quick. At my store, they sold out in two hours. (good thing I had a preorder)
this is plain awesome!!!I think i have a good idea though. If you want, you could make it minecraft-ish!With blocks, bow and arrow instead of lazers, and time of day!!!:D But that would be really hard, right?
I was going more like one of those old-style first person shooters, like DOOM or Wolfenstein. It's hard to make this multi-leveled (many floors/ elevations)
Try running it at turbo speed (shift-click the green flag) It is slower than S65's, but considerably faster than many others. Besides, it's not just running the raycaster, it's running several more scripts for the game.
I know. What's weird, though, is that I like Mario and Zelda, especially Zelda, more than Metroid O_o I'd want to make a 3D Zelda-like game, but an fps was better suited due to Scratch's weaknessess
I am currently remixing one of your Raycasters and I'm wondering if you would know how to program a bullet into the game. I'm working on it now but if you have any tips it would be helpful. Thanks. And good luck with your final project.
I decided not to use actual projectiles, but rather sprite-based lasers (so that the framerate would still be fast), as you could see if you hold the mouse button. If you wanted to use a bullet, you need to use the same engine that renders the enemy here. Get it to act like the bullet is an enemy, and add the script that moves it (should be nearly the same as the movement script for the player). That should work.
I'm making a 3D Flight Simulator, and it's turning out pretty good, but can you make a sprite for the border, like the one in this project, but plane related?
Planes are different from this border, though. I really can't do it without having to make the entire Heads-Up Display. Besides, from what I have seen, yours is third-person, not first-person. Sorry dude :(
Did you keep the anti-distortion formula? It was distance*cos(angle). The only thing other than that is to use the perpendicular distance instead, but that's a whole lot harder. The cosine equation should eliminate most of it.
It would be very difficult, probably impossible to replicate modern fps in Scratch. Right now, this is probably the closest thing to it. If you want, you could use this engine to do it, and I can explain what the engine does, but I really can't make another 3d engine solely for a COD clone right now because I'm working really hard on this to finish it and become the first true fps in Scratch.

Awesome!
works better in turbo :3
wow, just wow...
Are you still on scratch? :p
AMAZING! any enemies yet? this reminds me of doom for some reason
When will this game be out
EPIC!
I love it! It'll be even more awesome when you add some SFX!
THIS IS... well it's not sparta, but it is pretty awesome! I am looking forward to this! Looks almost metroid prime-esque.
hmm, you added health. when is your current projected date of completion? personally i'm moving on from scratch to Java, but if an alternate text mode is added in scratch 2.0 i will continue to use scratch... we'll see.
wait, i think you added health a while ago...
That's very cool
thanks:)
its very good and all just whats the red dot about and check out (link to project)
The red dot is to where an "enemy" is. I'm not finished yet. Also, I already saw it.
(view all replies)I an thinking about making a game with this...is that ok??? i will give credit to you in the credits and in the beginning.
sure! :)
Change wasd to move and arrows to look
I'm thinking about making both wasd and arrows to move, and look around using the mouse...
(view all replies)Quite confusing but that is really something you've got there! WHat are the controls, just arrows?
Arrow Keys, and WASD. One set (I forget which ones) is for moving/strafing, and one set is for looking up, down, left and right.
(view all replies)Cool, but when you get stuck you can't find your way out
hmm, still not sure what you mean... Do you mean that I made the colour darker as it gets farther from the player?
What do you mean, is it the actual game getting you stuck in the wall, or do you just mean you're lost because there's no map?
(view all replies)o; Try right clicking on the flash player and setting the quality to low, Its way faster!
Yeah :) It's flash, so you could change the quality. It could be done to any flash game. In mine, though, it doesn't really affect quality that much since the graphics are fairly simple, but it makes the speed way faster.
(view all replies)Oh also a suggestion for when the health gets below 20, make the red glow get bigger 'cause its almost unnoticable
Feliz Navidad!
(view all replies)Needs an option for WASD controls and strafing. But maybe I'm just too used to that. Other than that, awesome job so far :D
(view all replies)hey can you come on a minecraft classic server just search "worlds" and click the /Minecraft Worlds one and when you come on say this: Hello!! (say that exactly so that i know it's you) :D
oh ok i didn't know that :P
so that's why you suggested WASD controls or what because WASD controls and strafing are in minecraft
(view all replies)do you play minecraft...?
(view all replies)Oh man, that's so beasty! Really good! Love-It! XD
:):) thanks
(view all replies)you might want to update the project notes saying that it will not be done by christmas. just a suggestion PS: i like the health bar
Thanks for the suggestion :)
A while ago, i saw the first version. I just checked this out... wooaaahhh! I am so excited for the FPS!
Thanks :) :) :)
wow, turbo mode totally changed scratch for the better
yup!
I must say compared to other scratch rendering (in turbo mode of course) this is very smooth and the graphics don't flash, alike some. Very cool and I love that a shooter game is being made in with this project, can't wait for the finished version.
:) :) thanks
oomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg!!!!!!!
:):):):):):):):):)
:O
Awesome! What's the N on my map for?
The radar shows what you are facing as on top. So, if the N is on top of the circle, you are facing north.
(view all replies)it means north. ;)
(view all replies)300 view lol, I'm thinking of working on an mesh array based fps. IDK how it will turn out :P
Whoa O_o It's almost Christmas. Better get back to work at my fps. ;) Yeah, sorry, I've been REALLY busy. I'll still try and work on it, though...
(view all replies)Wow, I just realized, your fps is coming out soon!
Awesome! Great improvement from the original! But I need 3 hands now? lol
I know it seems like a good idea but his and my techniques are different. I use raycasting while he uses polygon mapping. Also, I am not that great in collabs, I really am just better working alone. I might take in some suggestions and ideas from people, but I don't really work well in a full collab.
:) thanks :) :)
(view all replies)Very impressive, much more clear than others I've tried and I like that you get stopped from walking if you go too close to a wall. Good job.
sorry not raycasters, was going off another comment on a similar project I made - basically I don't know enough about 3d rendering on scratch, lol
I like how you said what you actually liked about it. It's really more helpful than other's comments. ;)
thanks :) :) :) :) :)
(view all replies)WOW! And Scratch continues to push the boundaries of what can be done in 2d: 3d!
;) Thanks :) :)
awesome!
:) Thanks :):)
(view all replies)Your perspective seems a bit incorrect, the Y of the walls should be multiplied by a focal length/z.
It looks funny because of the fisheye distortion. To my knowledge, the equation to counteract that is distance*cos(angle). Here, though, it seems that equation is not strong enough. I can't figure out why it's not working, though.
LOL I just voted this as my favorite scratch project :)
(view all replies)I got it on launch day (yesterday). I've only played for two hours since I have school the next day and had to go to sleep, but from the two hours I've seen, it's an awesome game. (view all replies)Aww. Maybe you can borrow a friend's Wii and tell him to get Skyward Sword? It's the most awesome game ever.
(view all replies)Are you a Zelda fan? (If you've already told me the answer, forgive me, I forget) If you are, how could you forget SS comes out today?
(view all replies)wait, where did you vote?
(view all replies)LEGENDARY
:):) Thanks
AMAZING!
-_-
I don't really play minecraft. The only reason I know about it is because a friend talks about it.
(view all replies):) thanks :)
but this is still incredible this way!!!!
:):) thanks
this is plain awesome!!!I think i have a good idea though. If you want, you could make it minecraft-ish!With blocks, bow and arrow instead of lazers, and time of day!!!:D But that would be really hard, right?

nice
thnks
wow this is amazing!
thank you
When this game comes out i'll try my best to help you get front paged ^^
Thanks :) Sadly, progress is slow since I'm sorta burning out due to school
(view all replies)This is really quite impressive. Works really well on turbo mode :)
Well, it only works on turbo :) And thanks
ok now this is getting too metroid XD especially with your icon!!
I know. What's weird, though, is that I like Mario and Zelda, especially Zelda, more than Metroid O_o I'd want to make a 3D Zelda-like game, but an fps was better suited due to Scratch's weaknessess
(view all replies)cool!
:):) thanks
oops my bros account..... cool!
(view all replies)sweet, wish I could edit this one to make it so you can draw it. XD
I'm sure you could make something similar to Minecraft...
(view all replies)LOL =D There's really no way to do that here, since the map is in an array, not visual. It is possible to make a level editor, I guess
(view all replies)how do you do this this is awesome
:) thanks
epiqness
epiq :)
Thanks :) also, it's spelled epic, not with a q
(view all replies)I made a sprite-based raycaster which works but the detail and quality is poor...
THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC I hope.
I hope so too...
I am currently remixing one of your Raycasters and I'm wondering if you would know how to program a bullet into the game. I'm working on it now but if you have any tips it would be helpful. Thanks. And good luck with your final project.

(view all replies)Great job, truly amazing. I'm right now working on my own fps/move around engine.
AWW. well, maybe later you could try again. This was not my first try at a 3D world renderer
(view all replies)It's spelled trigonometry
(view all replies)Give me a link to your 3D thing when you're done
(view all replies)Thanks :) And good luck!
(view all replies)oh right didn't see the thing that says not finished
not working for me tried downoad
It can only work on flash player, on turbo speed (shift+click the green flag)
awesome! it would be really cool if maybe strafing was a and d and turning was q and e or something
I was thinking of doing that :)
(view all replies)The controls used to be strafe left and right arrow and turn was a&d, but people told me to change it to this. I think I'll make two control types
(view all replies)As usual, amazing. I rewrote this in JS, but am getting a huge fisheye distortion. Suggestions?
So what's the problem? Is the distortion similar to the one here?
(view all replies)Did you keep the anti-distortion formula? It was distance*cos(angle). The only thing other than that is to use the perpendicular distance instead, but that's a whole lot harder. The cosine equation should eliminate most of it.
(view all replies)Your 3D games are awesome! I'm planning to actually make Zombies from Black Ops, but maybe you can help me! Does this sound like a good idea?
Yup, easy if you know what to do.
(view all replies)Are you gonna make the 3D engine yourself? It would be awesome if you made a 3D game. I'm working on making this into a first-person shooter.
(view all replies)Every single times I go on I see you on recent visitors. Yesterday, the day before, the day before, and so on. You must always be going on and off. XX
Yeah, I'm always on. BECAUSE I AM A ROBOT who is always connected to the internet +_-
(view all replies)*XD
Don't make the health a slider.
No, I just put that in to test it. Why would I let people change their health?
