Right now I'm trying to turn this into a scroller game and re-add some of the stuff that I took out of the original game. I've been mulling about a sequel, but right now I'm running out of ideas ^^; I'll consider doogle production stuff, right now, I need time to think things over.
Also (just curious because you like YGO), have you seen the Capsule Monsters movie? I thought it was pretty good, and it was my first YGO movie (I think)!
I think it was more like: "Can-Can / We just kicked some can-can / tell me whose da man-man / you should'ave seen they way they ran" or something like that ^^;. I gotta watch that particular scene again, it was hilarious.
I've seen it via when 4KidsTV aired it as a small mini-series. I enjoyed it watching it (XD, Joey and Tristan doin' the can-can). My first YGO movie though was "Pyramid of Light"; sad to say, I didn't really enjoy that one too much because it was pretty much off-canon.
Thanks, Slinky, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed "YGO_ROA"! (oh, and I just noticed your LEGO Spiderman avie. Totally awesome, I love seeing LEGO figures :D)
Thank you. I always though people here would cringe at the fact that the game is based off the Yu-Gi-Oh series, but comments like this make my day. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. :)
This is awesome, nice graphics and its doesnt have glitches everywhere lol, smooth movement and sprites are good. *moves mouse to the love it button...CLICK*
I think it would be better if you were the one to ask ActionCat210 (his/her post is not so far down below yours on this project comment list), especially since you know about the project and better adapt to answer any questions that ActionCat210 may have about the project.
Well, sokh also asked me for help, I said that I couldn't do it because I'm usually have a pretty busy schedule. But I just talked to ActionCat210: he/she claims to how to script a duel project but that getting all the necessary images is just bothersome. Maybe you can get him/her to help on your duel project.
Hmmm...love it but one thing, probably almost impossible for scratch but I didn't play it that much so I'm not sure if you added it or not but their should be a duel mode.
Out of curiosity, what kind of duel mode are you talking about? Are you referring to a playing mode based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, or are you referring to something like this (link to project) ?
Ah, this game isn't really geared towards having a duel mode. It would be pretty hard to script a duel mode in which a player vs. an AI; in fact, to this day, it has never been created, although I think there are some people here who are collaborating to create one.
wow thats good stuff! but i was wondering if anyone eould no the easiest way to create a card game on yugioh. i will probably find out my self. I have already started but i could do with some better backgrounds lol.
Hmm, I would imagine making project adhering to the card game rules would be difficult, the closest I've ever seen here on Scratch would be XD_Master's Castle Dueling project. If you're interested, I think sohk is looking for help creating such a type of project; why not go to his/her gallery and maybe you two might be able to create a cool card gaming project? (Unless of course, you want to work independently on your own).
WOW YOUR SUCH A GOOD PROGRAMMER! Could you possibly join this gallery? We are making a kinda complex game at the moment but I need an exxcelent programmer like you to help! Here is the link to the gallery:(link to gallery) THANKS!
Who is Atem? Is he the guy you play as? Though I'm pretty sure his name is Yami (That's who he is on the tv show) unless Yami's name was different when he was a Pharoah in Egypt. The little guy is Yugi and when he turns into the big version of him with the deep voice that is Yami. (Incase you didn't know but I'm already pretty sure you do!)
Well, you can call him 'Yami' if you want. I don't want to be a spoilsport for the rest of the show so I'm not going to divulge where the name 'Atem' comes from. :P
Wow this is fun! I'm making my own Yu-Gi-Oh game! It's the card game type not a platformer like yours! I need to ask you a question about the music! Did you make it yourself or did you find it somewhere?
Most of the music was found somewhere on the internet: some of the music came from the Scratch user XD_Master, some others came from FileFront (but the music is no longer there for download). The end music (made from Scratch note blocks) is a personal transcription of a song from the Japanese anime soundtrack (used in place of an actual music file to save space).
Very good! I'm eager to see new releases, a couple of things you may want to work out though are: when you kill an enemy leave and come back he comes back to life, the attack animation goes a little too fast for my taste, when I unleash a monster from the tablets and touch it my life is gone in a fraction of a second! Overall a good game though :)
Go right ahead. After all, sharing is part of the Scratch motto. Do tell me when you're finished making the game, I would love to see where you're using the scripts :)
Thanks. At least I'm know I'm heading in the right direction. :)
Download this project!
Download the 42 sprites and 220 scripts of "YGO_ROA v1.1" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Rise of Apophis (1.1 release)
A new darkness has arisen. Escape from Apophis's grasp before he rises to power and you are destroyed by the darkness. ---------- I had actually formulated this game before I even knew a shred of programming in general, and I thought it would remain a fangurlish dream... until now. I started this project in October of 2008, it took me until now (June 2009) to get it complete. ---------- Game may not load or may suffer from online lag depending on internet connection and browser settings. Additionally, some of the script commands does not run properly online (perhaps a broadcast message error). Although the online glitches are not detrimental to gameplay, downloading and playing in presentation mode is recommended. ---------- Version 1.1 release: I fixed some of the glitches that was associated with this program. However, gameplay is pretty much the same as the original 1.0 release.
Jumping movement has been slightly changed. Also, I considered some advice form Houndolon and re-positioned some of the 'Embodiments of Apophis' enemies so you won't be ambushed so quickly when moving from room to room.
Possible Glitches* (compare with original notes to shee what has been fixed): - Graphic effects at end of game in disconjunction. - Lag glitch when sometimes transversing across platforms; another hover glitch in which you can literally just float over a platform break. - Breakage of Apophis's body (Apophis is actually composed of two sprites). - One of the enemies goes 'flying' off platform.
*In regards to 'Possible Glitches': I haven't been able to reproduce the glitches in 1.0, so I'm not sure if these glitches still exist or not. ---------- There is still the issue of the game not resetting properly online when hitting the green flag button. You may have to refresh the page. ---------- Feedback is appreciated and welcome with open arms, whether it's positive feedback or discerning criticism.
Spam will be cooked and served with rice for my dinner, and flames will be used to cook the spam. *OMNOMNOM* ---------- Big, big shout out and thanks to DairuAnubis (deviantART) and XD_Master (Scratch). Oh, and many, many thanks to Geno (janime) who provided the screenshots that aided me in designing some of the enemy sprites.
And thanks to everyone who provided feedback for 1.0. You guys rock :)

(view all replies)Ever since I moved to Australia I can't watch Yu-Gi-Yo anymore!! I was only 7 when I moved so I can't remember what was happening in that series!
You can always watch the episodes online. :) I think 4KidsTV is releasing episodes on either their YouTube channel and/or their website.
Its like I try but its too early

O_o Okay...... Any more words, or is that sinister laughter just all?
(view all replies)Hi! I reviewed your project on www.scratch.yolasite.com :D
Great game :D Only minor glitches, like my character disappeared under the floor :D Good job though :)
Thank you, I'm happy you enjoyed my game :)
u should make a pokemon game with your talent on scratch it would be the best pokemon game on scratch
Eh, I'm more focused on improving YGO_ROA right now. I haven't decided if I wanted to make a new game a this point.
Where is the second door.....
Well, there's only one door on the onstart of playing the game, no second door appears until you get all the five spells from the tablets.
(view all replies)Very good! I'm eager to see new releases, a couple of things you may want to work out though are: when you kill an enemy leave and come back he comes back to life, the attack animation goes a little too fast for my taste, when I unleash a monster from the tablets and touch it my life is gone in a fraction of a second! Thank you so much for the feedback, it's things like those that I find so useful and beneficial when working on my projects. I really appreciate it :)
(view all replies)I have the embodiment of apophis card... ah.. memories...
Ah, yes, those were the days :D
Great... now the music doesn't work properly -_-
Great to see you have fixed the jumping script and I just died...!
I'm happy to have the jumping script improved, too.. and I'll save you! XD
(view all replies)The music sort of sounds like it's from one of the Tex Murphy Case File Games
Hmm, really? Never heard the music from Tex Murphy Case File games before, could be that game music composers were influenced by similar styles.
(view all replies)nice updates :) lol, took me a while to get the door thing (wish I knew that on version 1.0 lol)
Ah, well, at least you know now ;)
(view all replies)Always a big fan of your games.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the game :)
This also has the exact same amount of scripts and almost the same amount of sprites as Ten Questions Of Doom
(view all replies)Is it okay if I use a couple of the scripts for one of my games? I'll give you credit of course.
Go right ahead. After all, sharing is part of the Scratch motto. Do tell me when you're finished making the game, I would love to see where you're using the scripts :)
(view all replies)this game rules
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it :)
Once again, This is great!!!!!
Thanks! :)
Cool
Thank you! :D
Wow, that's amazing!! Very smooth :)
Thank you! :)
(view all replies)Okay.... new online glitch... he's gets stuck in jump mode D8
Okay, got rid of the stuck-in-jump-mode glitch.
And now the enemies are spazzing out... What's going on?! D8
The controls have improved, but they still get annoying sometimes. However, it's still making me click love it.
Thanks. At least I'm know I'm heading in the right direction. :)
