awesome game! Very glitchy though... very good intro, I loved it all! Though on the first screen I got stuck behind the pillar and there was no way out...
That is very good game. A very creative lay-out. One thing is that I am surprised it works online with 40 sprites and 218 scripts! Great music. Im sturggling to win....I'm stil in the first place you start... I am having trouble jumping really and thank you for making such a cool game!
Yeah, I'm surprised the project loads really well online considering the scripts, images, and sound loops involved (Maybe it's because the project is around 5MB). The scripts involved with jumping, I admit, isn't the greatest, hopefully, 1.1 will cover that issue. :)
aaaand one more thing, i studied you move scripts a bit, and honestly, i dont think it can be fixed :/ the problem seems to be in scratch itself since it cant properly detect two keys simultaneously pressed if they interactwith each other... the glitch starts when i press left and right at the same time so the character runs in place. i managed to fix the glitch only when rigth arrow is pressed first, but when left arrow is pressed first, it doesnt respond to exactly the same type of script
Well, I'm trying to work around that movement problem with a re-write of some of the movement scripts. I seem to have found a fix for it, I'll see where it goes. :)
ok, few more things XP i decided to check out the game again, and once i figured out what is causing the move glitch, avoiding it wasnt hard...SPOILERS??: anyway, there i was, collecting keys, and suddenly i get teleported to another screen. so i thought i got enough keys, and i go through some more screens with keys, and decide to enter some random door. and then Apophis scared the **** outta me!! and i was w000t, and the music was awesome, and then i killed him, but i had to cheat xD
like paddle said, very ambitious project, but suffers from some serious move glitches and enemy respawns, and i do mean in presentation mode
great graphics and appearance though
Hmm, I see what you mean. I usually just attack when changing screens, but I think you bring up a good point, I believe it would be more beneficial if I change the re-spawning methods and attack moves of the enemies. Thanks for the two cents ;)
The enemy re-spawns were intentional (I found the game became much too easy if the enemies stayed dead). The move glitches, I acknowledge, I'm in the process of fixing that right now. Thanks for the feedback :)
Wow, quite an ambitious project! I don't know anything about this guy with the flamming head but I like the game. The graphics are great and wall collision seems to work well. The character motion is a bit laggy at times - I'd like to give helpful advice but I haven't done any platformers :)
Yeah, I admit, the jumping could use some work. Well, the game is beatable, but could you describe this 'place' a bit? Perhaps it's a glitch or design flaw that I didn't catch.
Download the 42 sprites and 218 scripts of "YGO_ROA v1.0" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
Yu-Gi-Oh!: Rise of Apophis
A new darkness has arisen. Escape from Apophis's grasp before he rises to power and you are destroyed by the darkness. ---------- I had actually formulated this game before I even knew a shred of programming in general, and I thought it would remain a fangurlish dream... until now. I started this project in October of 2008, it took me until now (June 2009) to get it complete. ---------- Game may not load or may suffer from online lag. Downloading and playing in presentation mode is recommended. ---------- Known Glitches: - Lag glitch when suddenly shifting directions from left to right and vice versa. - Graphic effects at end of game in disconjunction. - When landing on platform, sprite may stay in jump mode (what I call a hover glitch) - Lag glitch when sometimes transversing across platforms; another hover glitch in which you can literally just float over a platform break. - Conflict between when both enemy and main character lose at the same time. - Breakage of Apophis's body (Apophis is actually composed of two sprites). - One of the enemies goes 'flying'.
Glitches to be fixed when I'm not busy or when I'm not feeling lazy :P ---------- There is also an additional glitch online, where the game does not re-start properly. You may have to refresh the page. ---------- Feedback is appreciated and welcome with open arms, whether it's positive feedback or discerning criticism.
Spam will be cooked and served with rice for my dinner, and flames will be used to cook the spam. ---------- Big, big shout out and thanks to DairuAnubis (deviantART) and XD_Master (Scratch). Oh, and many, many thanks to Geno (janime) who provided the screenshots that aided me in designing some of the enemy sprites.

Awesome and Happy Independence Day
Ah, my mistake. I guess it's an early Happy Indian Independence day to you then ^^;
(view all replies)Happy Independence Day to you too! :)
(view all replies)i used to LOVE yugioh!!!!
Ah, those were the days. I still love the old series (the new spin-offs, not as much; for some reason, they just don't seem to hold as much charm ^^;)
(view all replies)A bit buggy, but it's really cool. Yu-Gi-Oh rocks!
Yeah, I'm still trying to iron out some of the bugs. Yay for Yu-Gi-Oh! :D
(view all replies)u should make a fullmetal alchemist game or bleach game or naruto game but good game
Not really into Bleach, FMA, or Naruto. I sometimes watch the show or read the manga, but just not really into them. :/ Sorry.
(view all replies)The game is awesome! The movement gets really annoying! It still has my love it!
Yes, the movement isn't quite smoothed out yet, I'm working on trying to improve it. And thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my game :)
awesome game! Very glitchy though... very good intro, I loved it all! Though on the first screen I got stuck behind the pillar and there was no way out...
Hmm, you got stuck behind the pillar? It could be a new glitch I haven't caught yet, I'll have to check that out. Thanks for viewing my game! :)
(view all replies)totally awesome! one of the greatest games I've even seen on scratch!!!
Thank you! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! :)

(view all replies)you could alternatively try it in 1.4 version, but if it doesnt work there, i'll post it in the forums
I'm actually re-scripting on it in 1.4 now :)

woops, one too many comments >.< anyway, great game, loved it, favorited it ^^
It's alright, don't worry about the numerous comments. And thank you, happy you enjoyed it :)
kill

(view all replies)0_o found another glitch: one of the Apophis guys broke off his spot and is now flying
O.o, really? I'll check that one glitch out again, I though I got rid of it already.
Wow, quite an ambitious project! I don't know anything about this guy with the flamming head but I like the game. The graphics are great and wall collision seems to work well. The character motion is a bit laggy at times - I'd like to give helpful advice but I haven't done any platformers :)
Every observant comment can be very helpful, no matter how big or small. Thank you very much for the feedback, Paddle2See! I really appreciate it :)
still on my tops tho great job :)
Thanks so much! :)
o_o I can fly here? n I cant seem 2 reach that 3rd key thing
Not really fly, just lump and leap pretty large distances :P
(view all replies)I remember back in 6th grade when I played this game and scammed all the younger kids outta their cards.
Eh, scamming younger kinds wasn't my thing, I had better fun playing against guys who thought girls don't understand the card game :P
(view all replies)LOL, used to play the card game and beat the guys... then I "retired".
(view all replies)Looks really nice but movement is a bit of a pain.
Hmm, you're the second person with movement complaints. Guess I have to work on that sometime. Thank you for looking and providing feedback. :)
(there's a luv it)
i HATE yu-gi-ho but this is still pretty cool :)
Ah, I knew there would be people who would probably hate Yu-Gi-Oh!, but at least I'm happy you took the time to look at this project. Thanks :)
(view all replies)good concept though the jumping needs improved and there is a place I can't beat because of a wall
Yeah, I admit, the jumping could use some work. Well, the game is beatable, but could you describe this 'place' a bit? Perhaps it's a glitch or design flaw that I didn't catch.
(view all replies)LOL, I can't believe that this game even loads well online on my laptop! And works fairly well, too!
programming is good, and it looks nice.
Wow, that was quick. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it :)
