A complex project in a little box that funchtions well and is great and mabey someday useful. but overal it's an awsome project could you do on spanish though that would be WAY cool if you do post one of my projects when it's done you rock!
this is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, but I particularly admire the 'single sprite' aspect of this project, because that way it can be very easily reused in another project. IMO Scratch is really lacking the ability to create, maintain and export nested sprites, and to build more complex projects by 'snapping' together 'molecular sprites' like Scratch blocks... But it's projects like these that really get my mind reeling. For example it would be so cool to be able to erase the turtle trails (stamps, pen marks) from just a portion of the playfield, without having to clear the whole screen....
Jen: You're right. There's a lot of scaling and stamping going on here. I had an almost irrational goal of making this in a single sprite: it would make more sense as a three-sprite project, without a doubt.
I'm baffled: Another single-spriter, which uses itself to stamp a part of itself! I couldn't believe it until I downloaded it: You're determining the character selected using your snap-to-grid math, and then - that's the really clever part - switch to the according costume, resize the sprite and stamp it at the cursor position. Almost works sort of like an old IBM daisy wheel typewriter. Did I about get that right? I really admire the simplicity of this seemingly insanely complex project. Oh, before I forget, I also love the origami unfolding animation!

cool project! check out Groudon vs Kyogre pokemon battle game (link to project) leave a comment on what you think about it!
Amazing! I love the unfolding crane and the entire project concept and execution, very cool! You might want to mention that holding the mouse over the crane brings up the keyboard. Really nice!
Katakana is a set of phonetic characters used in Japan, mostly for writing foreign words. This is a simple Katakana keyboard sprite you can drop in your project or use to just make some Katakana words. The font size, keyboard position, text area, and number of columns can be set using the variables you can see at the beginning of the program.

私は、これが当初の言語であると思いません
このプロジェクトがすごくて私が話すためにjapaneseがどのようにあなたを缶詰めにするか知っていさえしていて?もし悪すぎなければ。
i wrote hi man u r stinky
cool!!! i only know hiragana -.- your luky that u know katakana
wow I love this I did a year of japanese and learned all this but I am losing it;=<
thx. glad you like it. i was actually more interested in the interface (origami) than the particular language at the time...
(view all replies)very good!
yes!!!!!!! thank you! now i have an idea!
AWESOME!!
Amazing!
I'm learning Japanese, so this is useful for writing out words (albeit in Katakana, usually reserved for, say, English loan-words.)
This inspirered me to make a full, one sprite QWERTY keyboard (link to project) it's really amazing how much you can pack into one sprite!
I made my own version of this but with English characters at: (link to project) and with only one script. See it if you want.
Wow!
Featured, Cool! Make another level??? Question: How will origami survive in a fully digital (paperless) environment? Through animations like this?

Are you an UI designer chalkmarrow? You have created such nice user interfaces using Scratch.
Wait is Hirigana the standard japanese script? AND how do you know japanese characters?
Oldschooler2: Hirigana, I believe.
Wait, if this is katakana, what is the other japanese script?
Oldschooler2: In general, the row and column headings tell you (K+A = "ka" sound, etc.) There are some exceptions, though.
How do we know which is the equivalent in English?
OMG. You rule. Yes!
How did you do this
