you can make poker with it,or something like "luck game"...you pick a number,then rolle it then "forever-if-left dice number 1 and pick number 1 then.... else..." or something like that :D
Indeed - but I wasn't planning on making a game. Just an exercise and something else to show students. Perhaps they'll take the idea further, certainly hope so.
Liked your half-life project by the way.
The 3D here is really courtesy of user "m3ng" on Google SketchUp. I simply chose a simple dice model from the 3D Warehouse and then got the views I wanted.
Going 2D meant it could all remain in one sprite and so be duplicated to create more dice as needed. Pretty easy to change all the costumes as well that way.
Thanks mixa205 - though a dice thrower is not very original really. Just decided to make it to go with a weblog post I'm going to do later about the "play-by-email" site noted in the Project Notes here.
Before anything else - I know a single dice is properly called a 'die' but I just prefer to use dice as it seems better. I know - patheticreason really.
I saw an article about a site that runs "play-by-email" games and built its own dice throwing machine - quite literally. Decided to create a simple Scratch version.
See theirs at this site :

============================
For this Scratch version I used Google SketchUp and downloaded a simple dice model, used it to create 4 views of each face, so 24 pictures in all. Paintshop removed the background and cropped the images.
Code intended to be simple and obvious.
For this version I simply duplicated the sprite (and code) and then adjusted sprite sizes. Changed the background colour - just because I could.

I love the concept of it and how you creted the 3D effect.
