There are 100+ remixes in total (across all versions), so I collected some of the most interesting ones into a little gallery (link to gallery) — as per eventexception's suggestion.
My favourite remix is metalheadprod's 3D Moto Game (link to project) — managed to completely change the game!
Remix it, change something interesting, and let me know! :D Maybe add a level? Be creative!

New features in v2 (as suggested from the comments on v1):
* New level!
* Plane's shadow added, so you can see where your plane is in relation to the next hole.
* Mouse Control
(It had music, but it took up 3MB and wasn't even very good, so I removed it :P)
I was trying to make an interesting 3D game in Scratch, and this is what I came up with!
It runs a little slowly in Scratch, should be okay in presentation mode, and fine on the website. (Particularly with the Flash player.)

HOW IT WORKS:
In summary:
"set size to (100 / z)"
Where "z" is the distance from the screen.

One of the better 3D games on Scratch. I'm impressed!

I tried making Mario Kart, actually. It's extremely difficult. You can't really do a Mode 7-style effect in Scratch; you can approximate it using lines/polygons, but it's a bit slow, and the maths is rather complicated.

Update: Added a slightly more satisfying ending, and tweaked the z-positioning.
You did a great job here. Maybe someone else makes a good remix. Are there remixes of you could recommend? Link to remix? Takes to much time to check all your remixers to see little or nothing was improved.

(view all replies)I'm still not sure; even shifting them slightly by X wouldn't make it a different angle, because they'd still be facing the screen exactly. They'd need a little rotation along the Y axis, which isn't possible in Scratch as it's a 3D effect.
Ah, I see now. I'll think of a way of starting it using a key, then.
I suppose it does mean it's not _just_ keyboard control, but how else would it work? "Press space", perhaps?
I think red/blue glasses ideally need a different angle, which isn't really possible with this method. I could try it, but I'm pretty sure it would look wrong. :(

I like it! You might want to revise the "sizing" scripts not to simply increase the % number, but to incorporate division for further away (see my project's sizing scripts).
Done! You were absolutely right; it now *divides* by Z, rather than doing something slightly odd (I think it was squaring the size, which wasn't quite right :P) Thanks for the tip! :)

Awesome, really great game. Like it better than the first, but prefer arrow key control over mouse. Maybe you could make it a choice in the beginning, with some sort of opening screen?
