Download the 11 sprites and 19 scripts of "3D Crane v2.0" and open it in Scratch Project Notes
This is a neat little 3D crane. V0.2 can be manually operated, or run automatically. It now also can pick up and drop beams from, and onto four different tracks. It is cool.
Some tricks:
1) To get it to drop a beam off, but not pick up another: Put it in a position to drop, but then tap the up arrow so that 'down' is 68 or 69, rather than 70. Then hit 'n.'
You can now move the arm, and the next beam will come when down next equals 70.
2) To make them keep coming, slide pinch to zero; then, after the first beam has left, but before the next one comes, slide it to 5.
3) You can use the spacebar instead of 'n.'

I know this will Make me sound like a total NOOB but how do you make the slider I tried everything i can think of, I used to know how but then my computer got messed up for a while so i forgot

(view all replies)I've found a glitch: If you move the crane up with the bar in it then let go the bar will fall, but if the pinch is more than 0 and even if the crane isn't touching the bar, the bar will move with the crane.

Google sketchup is cr@p blender is better...
Yep. blender is far mor powerful. Sketchup (which i used for my icon) is far easier. Sketchup is meant to be like: Cool! a 3d drawing program! I'm gunna make something rigt now! Whereas blender requires more patience and expirience. ☺
Blender is more powerful, however Sketchup is far easier to use. It is a trade off that does not make one better, they just suit different needs. It's as saying that Scratch is cr@p because of the fact that it does not support file IO, recursion, polymorphism, lambdas, true compiling, etc etc. That argument too would be very flawed.

I use Google sketchup to create the images, and an isometric view to keep the math simple when I animate it in scratch.

How do you save a sketch-up model as a jpeg or other file type besides sketch-up model?
File>Export>2D Graphic. Then, using the options button, select the size, format, etc.

the obsolete block appears in a lower version of scratch than was used in the origonal project to show a block it doe not recognize, ie the ask block will apear as obsolete in scratch 1.3

i did it in an isometric view, so as I just need to make a sprite specific x, y, and z variable for each object, and have simple script telling it the actual x and y to go to.
