This is a cool project. When I downloaded it I thought the scripts would be really complex but after I opened it, I released it was simpler than I thought. With a few more adjustments and improvements, this could be even cooler. I hope to see more projects from you soon. What do you think your next project will be?
im working on making something with as realistic physics as possible that allows you to push blocks around and make your own missions with as much interaction as possible.
Not that good, but cool attempt! My idea would be to make like 30 boxes in that blue square, and depending on which ones the pen touch, it will decide the letter by that. Just an idea though,
just go to some of the projects in the gallery and critiqe them. say what you like about them and think of some improvements. maybe people will do the same for your projects.
Very good - it might work more effectively if you put in "constuction lines" such as those found in hand-writing excercse books, with a line for writing on, a line to show the height of most letters and a higher line to show the height of letters with risers (bdh etc)
Yes it is very good but sometimes it gets the letters wrong.Hey bigB were in the UK do you live.I visit romford every year for up to a month to see my grandparents.
Amazing, this project is now one of my favorites, I´m going to download it to study it and tray to make something with it, I´ll give you the credit, you have done a good job.
Clunk. That was my jaw dropping! This is amazing! Of course it works a whole lot better if you input LOWER case letters...instead of the upper case letters I usually use. An ingenious approach!
you are correct it is only for lower case I meant to put that in the notes, thanks for the reminder. the way it works is actually quite simple, my original idea was to simplify each letter into lines and nodes but that would have been too complex i think.
Download this project!
Download the 5 sprites and 8 scripts of "draw to text" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
This is an attempt at making a drw to text program.
Draw (lowercase) letters in the blue box and watch them turn into letters.
To backspace draw a horizontal line across the box.
To make a space draw a horizontal line near the bottom of the box.
It may not get the letter right everytime but it works quite well. If your interested download it to see how it works. It was made in version 1.2 so eeveryone should be able to download it.

Ingenious! Great work.
Wow this is GREAT. good job. i never would think to come up with the way you accomplished this, with costumes.
wouldn't it be easier to use capital letters?
Awesome!!! 'I's are impossible lol
ive noticed that too. the problem is it gets confused with L's.
i downloaded it and it looked AMAZING!!! good job, bigB!
This is BRILLIANT!
Awesome! How did you do this! You are like a scratch-wizard!
if you download it you will see how simple it is.
(view all replies)WOW!
cool!
Wow---ow-ow-ow!
Brilliant! It'd be great if you put comments into your code. I'd love to better understand how you did this!
This looks so difficult to make I really love it though you have an amazing sense of creativity and scratch!!!
to make a k write a gigantic B
lol i tried and got a g.
(view all replies)wow thats cool!!!
I wrote cool but got caec?

Well i can't do an i!
No, I did an h!

Oh wow this is awesome. I looked in the script and it actually scans what you draw! That is really....cool. I like it
it ain't workin'!
I can't get the letter "i"!
i tried "b" and it gave me the letter "i", how ironic.
(view all replies)it aint working.
same here!
great! it works fine on my computer! I would add commas and other stuff =D
um . . . . . i draw tha lettrs . . . . . but it doesn't type 'em
i think the accuracy has a lot to do with your ahndwriting and mouse drawinng skills, unfortunately i am bad a both of these
it doesnt work sadly :3
Nice attempt, it's pretty good, but could use some work will the sensoring of different letters.

OMG AMAZING

that was one of my first ideas but i think this is easier.
(view all replies)BTW, BigB, I would like to join your critique group 'Challenger Group' How do I join?
just go to some of the projects in the gallery and critiqe them. say what you like about them and think of some improvements. maybe people will do the same for your projects.
This may not work pall the time, but I really like it and am downloading it all the same!
I just have to post another comment because this is sooooooo cool!!!!! that is all...
thankyou. did you give me a love it?
(view all replies)I'm amazed!!!! Awesome! How on earth does it work!? I am soooooo downloading this
Great but only one problem- first it thought my S was a Z, then a G, then a K, then another G, etc.
Hi my Name Seth I am 9 years old and I don't know how to make a text box so that people can write EG."HI"
O_O WOW!!! this is a great idea, probably about the same way DS games with spell casting work.
Very good - it might work more effectively if you put in "constuction lines" such as those found in hand-writing excercse books, with a line for writing on, a line to show the height of most letters and a higher line to show the height of letters with risers (bdh etc)
thats a really neat idea. i might try that.
It was very good indeed. Easily better than how I would make it.
Yes it is very good but sometimes it gets the letters wrong.Hey bigB were in the UK do you live.I visit romford every year for up to a month to see my grandparents.
how would you have made it?
(view all replies)i downloaded it and the i and l are mixed up
thats deliberate as it may mistake an l fir an i but not the other way round.
i dont get it

Not perfect but could become one of Scratch's most popular projects eventually.
no offence but when I drew a z it said x. lol but it is cool
Its pretty tricky to make it perfect especially when everyone has a different handwriting so i was just happy when it did work.
(view all replies)scratch is slowly being able to do what a ds can do this and voice commands :)
Awesome this is amazing can you check out my first game called parachute shootdown
I'm really amazed your project, especially character recognition algorithm. Great job!
'o' WOW!
This is amazing!!!!! This is going on my favorites!!!
Wait, no lists! Even more amazing!
note how he said it was made in 1.2
Whoa! Lists to the extreme! I'm going to get out my Wacom tablet and try this right now!
o=g for me
Some reminders. Use lower case letters, only draw one letter at a time, make sure the letter is completely within the box.
it doesn't work… though you could probably blame my poor handwriting
have you had success with any letters, try lowercase if you arent already.
I drew "Cheese" and I came up with "inje" Lol
