And if you're stuck thinking of how to make him shoot, I think this would work: make a bullet sprite. ake it hide until it receives "shoot" or "fire" or something. And make it go left,right,and jump exactly like the character. Then when it receives "shoot" or "fire" or something, make it move _ steps and then hide and go back to the X and Y of the character.
Great! Much better than the first one. But there should be some little hills or walls for him to jump over.

Hmmmm..... you did well on the looks of the charechter, but you scrolling, the ground at first one part of the ground moves, but not the rest. another thing a backround like this should move with the ground. The charechter should also have a real walk, not just standing an moving. nice try though.
