You must all be proud to have created such an amazing game. I can also tell a lot of time and work were invested in putting this together. You might also want to explain how you all worked together in your project description. Perhaps others can learn from your collaborative process. The introductory story at the beginning of the game sets the stage very nicely. I appreciate the skip button too during this section. As you build up your monster, you become more invested in its success and it motivates you to keep going to defeat the evil monsters. Clever use of the sprites to generate monsters. It creates a nice moment of reveal whenever you enter battle. I also like how you integrate yourselves within the game using your Scratch avatars. Awesome game! Thanks for participating in the challenge!

My inventory is blank but i bought like 20 potions and 10 monster balls.
Defeated Kayybee at level 10.
I got killed by a monster who looked like me, but then i killed it at the same time avoiding death. Not noticing, i continued to the battlefield, loaded the fight and game over.
Awesome! best game on scratch!

Cool game! Anyways, I started a game series called psycics & gnomes, but it's not doing so good. Would you be willing to take over the series (You can change it however you want due to the fact it's very inactive & has lack of detail)?

i think this is a very good project on scratch, could i work on the "Pokemon magnus" collab, or is this still updating?, if it is updating could i be apart of it?, i joined scratch 2 years ago just to say im not a newb.
scratch v2 is coming out soon so I am going to wait til then

make a monster faint or press the monster button and a number in battle. To change monster order go to HQ after you catch some.

I know it seems insane to give suggestions to a game which is better than a good 99.99% of games on Scratch, but just here me out here. I'd like to have the ability to choose what monster I get to start off with. I also don't like the bosses. That's just nitpicking, I know, but I'd like their to be a boss I can get excited about, and, well, no offense but you try to start a serious tone, then I realize I'm fighting the creators. I love this game, don't get me wrong, but it's far from perfect.
At least you didn't find anything wrong with the battle engine :) I like the strategy with the different moves. The bosses were done last, just to give a sort of point to the game. For the monster picking suggestion, I know pokemon does let you pick from 3 monsters but different monster games like Dragon Quest start you off with 1 so I don't think its a huge deal. The upcoming game "Pokemon Magnus" will have these kinds of features from pokemon among others.
(view all replies)Yeah, we did as much as possible in the 2 months we were given. Most of that time was spent on making a good battle engine, which will be used in future games. We are making a new Pokemon game using an improved version of your engine, it will include the improvements you mentioned.
Also, how do you make a Scratch project able to save?

On my pokemon game its "hard to do propoly look at this"what do you mean?
If that doesn't make sense then you probaly won't be able to make an accurate pokemon battle clone. But thats OK if you are not aiming for authenticity.
(view all replies)For a more accurate version, you need many lists. There are 4 sets of values for attack properties and 6 properties at least for the monsters.
