Make sure you copied the script exactly right - especially the Set xVelocity to xVelocity * .9, If Right Key Pressed -> Change xVelocity by 2, If Left Key Pressed -> Change xVelocity by -2, Change x by xVelocity. Don't confuse xvelocity with yvelocity. I can try to fix the problem if you upload it.
you change scrollx by velocityx so that the velocity of your character is tied to the scrolling. It makes it really smooth, and is actually quite simple.
This guide teaches how to create a platformer game and how to scroll with only two sprites. Use the arrow keys to move and switch screens. If this is successful, I will make a new one about sensors.

How do you get velocity's?
Open Scratch, go to the variables section, and then select [add new variable]
I am making a platforming game and I used your platforming script but I can't go right.

(view all replies)I don't see how this makes a scroll game.
I use this script all the time! Though this one is better then mine, because its more simple.

(view all replies)will you make a game out of it?
I have made plenty of projects using these codes. Just go to My projects page and look through them.
in the title add that it teacher jumping as well
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do you get <Touching ground?> from?
Or try in your backround make say a green bottom then in the moving sprite eg, a car. do forever is NOT touching green change y by -2 !!!!!
"ground" is the name of a sprite. Once you create a sprite by that name, you will find a sensor like the one shown in the Sensing area.
I know that
I love the velocity!
every time i get halfway though the second platform the first one apears do you know why this happens?
Because the costumes on both the platform sprites need to be the same.
(view all replies)thats what always happens to me
there's a way to get rid of the white on the edges: simply put a border!
This is a very excellent tutorial! I love it!
