Thanks for adding it to your gallery! As for an easier version, I'll see what I can come up with when I have some more free time. I'm not quite sure how to make it easier without totally changing what the game is about though. What's the hardest thing about the game?
The target starts in a random spot and slowly flies around the screen. Don't press random places because if you miss, you lose from the timer. Move the mouse around the screen. If you get closer to the target, the notes will become lower pitched. When you can't find anything lower pitched than the spot you're on, you've probably found the target. If notes are getting higher, that means you're moving away from the target, so you should change direction.
wassup, you wanted to know what dg games is. its a small group that uses the dg games symbol in there projects. shares ideas in the dg games galery and if its ok with the original developer of a scratch game, you can remix it for the better. there are also group projects where each member contributes a piece of the game and i give each one credit for that peice and i take all the pieces and put them together as a whole. if you have any more questions ask. please join.
my main strategy is to go in a straight line and then find the approximate lowest pitch on that line, and then go perpendicularly from that point, and repeat.. until i hear a pitch that i believe is low enough..
this kind of 'line search' seems to work out pretty fast
English? I think this is as close as I can get, hehe. Basically, it requires a little geometry. If you need to, you can look up the Pythagorean theorem on Google.
You can download my project to see my scripts, but basically, I created a pair of variables to represent the target's X and Y coordinates. The variables randomly change a by just a little all the time to simulate the target "moving." I used the Pythagorean theorem to calculate distance between the target coordinates and the coordinates of the mouse. That distance determines what note gets played and if you score when you click.
Wow, I only got 4 points... I really like it though. It's a very original idea. What made me enjoy it was the sound, which even though it was basically random notes turned into a sort of soothing music. Nice effect.
I really enjoy the sound too. I like the idea that the interactions between player and a random AI can make something that actually sounds pleasant. I also like how the song sort of tells the story of the player's journey.
I like the new scoring system but I'm still having a lot of difficulty...it would be nice to see where the note was hiding when I miss but I can't think of a way to do that without using a sprite.
I can't think of how to do that either. However, I don't think I'd want to even if I could. Usually, if you click off target, you're probably still pretty close, so if you search nearby a little bit, you'll find it. On the other hand, the target jumps away randomly when you succeed, coincidentally much like your Shots in the Dark game.
tooooooooooooooo hard i can't do it (but im not really into hard stuff i like easy level things im so sorry it not makin the gallery very very very very sorry)
Are you having trouble with the scoring system? If so, I just changed it to be more forgiving on the penalties. Or is it just too hard to find the note?
Awesome!!! I love the concept! Very unique!
In my opinion, the only thing that needs to be changed is that you lose too man points when you mess up. 2 is a lot, it should be one. Or even better, don't deduct score and simply add a time penalty.
PS: If you added more sound effects and maybe even have it speak your score at the end, blind people could play this game! :D
I took your suggestion about the score penalty. Thanks! I should remember to avoid making my rules discouraging. I like the idea of making the game accessible to blind people, but the only way I can think of to make Scratch read a score is to record every possible number as audio files. I suppose I could do up to 50 or something? Then some blind person with super ears gets past that, hehe.
Thank you so much! Everyone says it's cool. I think it's cool too, but you're the only one who said it's fun! Cool is nice, but I would like my game to be actually fun for at least one person.
Ok, I changed the rules so you don't lose score when you miss. You lose time instead. Hopefully, you won't have to feel bad about losing score now. Let me know what you think.
Whoa, really creative I love it! My score was 19, but I tried so many times to get the score!! However This game is extremely difficult, I don't think that half of the people that play this game will get over 14. Anyways its going into my gallery, congratulations. Do you have any idea of your next game, oh and to tell you the truth, I like your Photon Cage game better than this!
To tell the truth, I like Photon Cage better too, but I enjoy this one a lot anyway. I changed the rules a bit so that it's a more forgiving on the scoring/timing (although the process of note seeking is still hard). For my next game, I'm thinking about going back to something more game-like and less artsy. Probably one about a large, slow space cruiser with many weapons, if I can get it to work well. I won't post something unless I can get it to work reasonably well.
That's a great way of looking at it! It's kind of a trainer. If someone made a game where players had to find a specific named note, that would stump me. Maybe I should do that to train myself.
I like this a lot! Very innovative - I have never played anything like it. I must admit that I am REALLY bad at it (my ear has trouble distinquishing whether a tone is higher or lower than another tone) but it is a really cool idea!
This a game with no sprites created for the "No Sprite Games" challenge.
Move the mouse to find the lowest pitched musical note and click it to score. The note moves invisibly across the game screen, so use your ears to hunt it down. If you hear notes getting lower as you move your mouse, that means you're getting closer to the target.
(Some rules have been changed recently based on feedback.)
Score 1 to 4 points depending on how close you get to the precise note. You win 4 points if you get it exactly right.
You lose 10 seconds of time if you miss by too much.
Each time you score adds to your timer, depending on how much you scored. Game over when time runs out.

I suck at it too, could you make an easier version too? As a request from me? ^__^
Thanks for adding it to your gallery! As for an easier version, I'll see what I can come up with when I have some more free time. I'm not quite sure how to make it easier without totally changing what the game is about though. What's the hardest thing about the game?
dude, this rocks!
Thank you! Does it rock enough to love?
(view all replies)and i dont really get it but good job

Hi, SorWiz9, I have a new game, hope you can see it!
did you get my last message?
Very creative! Though I suck.
Thanks! You probably aren't used to this type of game. It's kinda different, and a lot of people find it hard.
0 PTS! very cool, too
I see you got 10 points on your last post. Much better!
(view all replies)I had a bunch of my relatives try it, and they all got 0 or 1 too. I'm glad you like it anyway though.
(view all replies)Wowza, hard but cool!
Thanks! What did you score?
twenty eight seconds
28 points? If so, you matched my best!

hey look at this!!! It's my best game!! (link to project)">(link to project)
I love it so much though I can't even get 1 score!!!
Check out the comment by hpmv. There's a good strategy described there.
me 2,maybe it should show the answer when u lose, like with a red circle sprite or something
(view all replies)its o.k,i`ll add to my gallary,k?
Sure, that's cool.

Hey, that's pretty much what I use too! You're much better at it though. Awesome score!
WOOT i got 55~
THAT IS SO HARD!!!! How did you make that? That is amazing!!!!!!!!!!

(view all replies)Cool idea! Great game! In the Recommended Projects gallery it goes!
Thanks. I'm glad you like it! Care to post your score? I'm really wondering how well people do with this game.
(view all replies)AWESOME! To my Gallery it goes!
Cool! Thanks for adding it.
it is really good dude keep em coming
Thank you! I do have some ideas I'm excited to try out.
Cool. I got 16.
Nice score! I think you have the best one posted since I changed the scoring system.

my first time i got 11. good job. i love it. would you be interested in joining dg games?
great Idea!
best score so far is 15, after about 6 attempts at it. good job bro
If you like searching for things you can't see...try this one (link to project)">(link to project)

That's a good point about the digits. I may do that, actually. I suppose it doesn't quite work for 11-19, but that's not too bad. Thanks.

(view all replies)wow ive never seen anything like it it is well liked and i can defently see why everyone likes it I LOVE IT!!!
Thanks for adding Sonic Seek to your gallery. I'm happy you love it!
(view all replies)cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool hard though
Haha, thanks! I changed it to make it a little easier on the scoring. I'm wondering what you can score now.
cool! It would be easier if you were trying to find the highest note though I think.
It might be. I chose low notes because high notes bother my ears more than low ones. I'm glad you like the game!
Very cool!
Thank you!
(view all replies)really good idea
I'm glad you think so. Thanks.
(view all replies)Kinda hard, but it is innovative.
A lot of people seem to like the idea. Is it too hard? I just changed the scoring system to remove the penalty. Does that make it better?
Difficult, but a lot of fun.
Thank you so much! Everyone says it's cool. I think it's cool too, but you're the only one who said it's fun! Cool is nice, but I would like my game to be actually fun for at least one person.
i did win 1 point but i lost it:'(
Ok, I changed the rules so you don't lose score when you miss. You lose time instead. Hopefully, you won't have to feel bad about losing score now. Let me know what you think.
my best score so far ZERO!
i don't understand it
thx 4 adding to my game gallery (p.s i only scored 1!!!!)
No worries. I changed the game so you don't lose score anymore. I hope you'll try again.
Whoa, really creative I love it! My score was 19, but I tried so many times to get the score!! Maybe if I play this a lot, my ear will improve...
That's a great way of looking at it! It's kind of a trainer. If someone made a game where players had to find a specific named note, that would stump me. Maybe I should do that to train myself.
Where is the No Sprite Challenge being held?
How did you get this in 521 galleries? That's amazing!
I like this a lot! Very innovative - I have never played anything like it. I must admit that I am REALLY bad at it (my ear has trouble distinquishing whether a tone is higher or lower than another tone) but it is a really cool idea!
