there was a weird glitch when i played this time. i beat the game but right after i killed the demon another small demon came and killed me. this cancelled out the win and it just said game over right after it showed me kill the deviathan
Ok, last LAST thing. Morash doesn't have much reach on his attack. It's not a problem in this game, but insufficient reach is an issue in many games. You can give him more reach by changing his fighting stance so he hunches forward a little, more like a boxer. When he attacks, have him bend his forward knee forward and lean his upper body forward even more. That gives more reach, and makes the attack look more powerful. You can try copying the stances of characters from various fighting games.
Wow, lots of comments. Very good comments though! I appreciate these kind of comments a lot because they actually help. You can be sure that I'll take many of your ideas into account in future games. I'm also glad you like the characters!
One last thing (funny how posts read from down to up) I have to say I'm impressed by how you brought the Deviathan to life as a character. The sound effects really help, but also the way it writhes and squirms around in the air after you hit it is great. Playing the game, I really get the feeling it's pissed off at Morash. Great use of background and foreground too. Your game reminds me of a level I played once in an old ninja game. I think it might have been a Shinobi game, but I'm not sure.
It seems I had a lot to say about this game. Comparing to the original Demonslayer, I'd say the player's role was a bit more active in that one, since players actively attack the crystals to create an opportunity to attack Daeva. The only problem was players had no reason to expect attacking crystals would drop the ceiling on Daeva. It made no sense. But the active player role was good. If players could have reflected Daeva's attacks at the ceiling, that would have made sense.
The Deviathan doesn't expose its weak point often, which is what one should expect. However, having so few opportunities to attack makes the fight into a really long waiting game. I like requiring patience, but maybe this is a little too much. Rather than making players wait for opportunities, consider letting them create their own. To borrow a Zelda idea, perhaps Morash can reflect a projectile back at a boss somehow, which blinds it temporarily, and causes it to expose its weak spot.
I like how, unlike Daeva, Deviathan has a mix of attacks that target Morash, so it doesn't feel like it's just randomly targeting. The fireball rain and horizontal fireball don't specifically target Morash, but that's good because it gives variety. As an artistic character design, the Deviathan is very effective. It has the presence of a dragon, but is unique and distinctive. It's a memorable enemy. Morash is a memorable design too. I like how, unlike most heroes, he's balding and middle-aged.
This is awesome. The Deviathan's attacks are much more well thought out than Daeva's. Again, there are many, but each can be anticipated with by observation. Nice. Morash still moves really slow, but now most of the attacks give enough time to start moving before they hit. The exception is the fireball rain. They fall randomly, so you can't predict them, and there is no shadow to show where they will fall. One unpredictable attack out of so many isn't bad though.
I'm happy to inform you that it is not impossible. I have beaten it many times, as have many others who tried. It takes practice, though. You have to learn where the attacks go and how to dodge them. I meant to make it very hard, but it is not impossible.
wow the graphics are really cool. one thing i might ask, though, how did you get that cool text? Did you amke it, or get it from somewhere else? ps i luv audacity!
OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMGGMGMGMGKMGMGOOOOOOOOMGMGMGMGMGMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh ya, dont you think u should make morash a little more like strong and swordy and armory liike a warrior cuz if your punching demons it looks less Awesome, guns could work too! but any those are just suggestions, but WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! great game
Thanks! I'm glad you like the game. Part of what makes Morash so amazing is that he does do all of this without armor or weapons. He is a master of martial arts and so does not need the weapons.
I'm probably a good idea supporter, programmer, and sound and music supplier, I have more music and sounds than any scratcher on scratch! I can do pretty much anything in scratch, scrolling, gravity, AI's (sort of), m=costume motion, and lots of other stuff! you can do artwork, programming, concept, and story of course
I'm glad you're so interested in my DemonSlayer series. If I need help, I'll ask. I've already got some good ideas for the future, some are very similar to your suggestions! I agree that I could develop the story a bit more.
dingdong is really good just so you know. Lol you probably know that already oh and dingdong check out my zelda gmae when it comes out. I think the storyline is pretty good but it would be cool to have some feedback. it isn't out yet though so i will tell you when it will be.
interesting, you're a pro, but you do newb mistakes! this game I suggest you give a good storyline, the game itself suits it quite well, the full plan is that you can have games that are only a boss, but some games will only be missions that send you through a task while fighting tons of minor enemies, you can use codes that are given at the end of each game for entering in the next game so you can play it! I really want to see this turn into a great series! I'm offering you all my help!
I appreciate your interest. I'm taking all suggestions into account, but I can't promise anything specific. You just have to wait and see how the story unfolds.
I think Morash should die. It says that as long as Morash is fit for battle then they will be safe. What happens if he isn't? Somone should take his place just to make it more interesting.
how do you dodge the demons at the last 10000 Hp? I made it so far!!! Plus a bug is when you hurt it when it flys away it still looks like you just hit it.
The demons are meant to make things tricky at the end. Jump over the walking ones, don't do anything and the flying ones will go over you. As for the big meteors, remember that you can punch!

so close 19 miles left and one hit and i would have won
where is this scar?
On the tip of the tail. You have to wait for the Deviathan to come up close after a certain attack to have a chance at hitting it.
very cool
Dear Shadow-Kun, I like this game, but you said to comment if anything is wrong. I can't see my character once I reach 47 miles until city.
I don't know what to tell you. That doesn't usually happen. It usually plays better when downloaded. That may help.

how do u lessen his hp? --- i could win if i had the patience... i can dodge all the attacks, but i don't have patience
no offence but its kinda bad because it is IMPOSSIBLE!

I have a friend, The_Flaming_Duck, your games seem to sort of be similar to his style, you should look at his games.
love it, its pure genius. i love the sprites. i shall add it. if you need any help on the 3rd, i shall assist.
Thanks a lot! The biggest help I could get right now is spreading the word.
(view all replies)it's too slow man
It runs slowly online for some computers (like mine). Did you try downloading it?
Cool
Hey Shadow-Kun I love your games (even though I can't beat them). Can you be one of my friends?
good series!
once again, great job. but seriously consider some non-boss battle gameplay.
Don't worry, there will be some non-boss games in the near future...
(view all replies)wow the graphics are really cool. one thing i might ask, though, how did you get that cool text? Did you amke it, or get it from somewhere else? ps i luv audacity!
The text is right off of Scratch. When you make a sprite and add text, there's a whole bunch of cool fonts. That one is called Radaern, I think.
(view all replies)THATS SO TOTALLY AWESOME DUDE!!!!!!
you make good stuff.

Don't worry, there will be many more to come. They take a long time to make.
Wow beatiful artwork and great gameplay!
morash needs his ointment
i hope you tried the game scratch bash dingdong and i are working on number two currently

Cool!! This one is good enough to stay in the Video Games gallery! (link to gallery)">(link to gallery)
Awesome game! It makes a good sequel to the first. I look forward to more boss battles to come!

wow i had teh codes idea for my series Khairo's story
incredible! the graphics are amazing!
laggy
Can I Use Deviathan in a scrolling game I'm creating
Sorry, but no. I'd like to keep these characters exclusively DemonSlayer if possible.
or maybe he could just get old and have to train someone new to fight for him. Then at the end he must do it! lol that just sounds interesting
I appreciate your interest. I'm taking all suggestions into account, but I can't promise anything specific. You just have to wait and see how the story unfolds.

i like the game but i cant really play it cause it runes SOO slow on my computer! check out happy cake though!
Sorry it runs slowly, but its a big game. Did you try downloading it? That helps a lot. I have a slow computer, too.
(view all replies)also i finally beat teh game yay!
Shadow-Kun, would it be alright to use the Deviathan sprite for Super Scratch Match 3? Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.
Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather just keep it at Daeva.

Make a story line of games and for the final one make us fight lord daeva again only that mixed with all the other bosses!
Great minds think alike! :) I'm already planning on having a final rematch with Daeva at some point, although it won't be anytime soon.
I made it lose 30000 hp but its electric attacks are tough to dodge.
lol i guess different people find different things hard.
i find the hardest to dodge are the fireball things I stilll beat the game though.
(view all replies)Where is the scar? I can't find it!
can you make it a little easier?
Ha ha! This game is meant to be challenging, that's where the fun comes in. Don't give up It certainly is possible!
awsome this rules!
