Because he's adoorable. No? Just me then.
He looks a lot like a door because I just wanted a really simply character because I was more concerned about the gameplay mechanics when I started. I know it's been 3 years, but I am still working on a new version (don't expect it for at least another three!), so maybe he'll look less doorish then.
Thanks. Though a more complete version of this game is promied, it has been on hold for a very long time. I have various experimental versions at different stages but it will be a long time before I publish anything. SB
Thanks, I'm actually working on a new version right now which is even better. It's a built on a new engine based around this one. The problem is, as it gets bigger it gets slower and I doubt it will run online. I don't know when it'll be finished, but when it is I'll post a message in the forums. SB
Thanks. The size of the project wont increase that much with a longer game, all the key parts will be the same (Inventory, Actions etc.) though I am planning to add more item interaction, weather and other features.

Other than the fact that my guy looks like a door, I'm really impressed! The level of interaction with the environment is great, the interface is very clean and workable. I'm a little concerned with project size, you're at 3 meg already and there's a 10 meg limit on the web, something to keep an eye on. Very promising!
The Shadow Guild - Prequel Quite simple at the moment and very easy but I will add more levels and make it longer and harder soon. Just to show off my new game. Please attack the game in any way possible and report any bugs. Graphics were made using Scratch, MS Paint and MS Powerpoint. Hope you enjoy it. A longer version will be out soon. Works best downloaded. SB WARNING: THE DOWNLOADED COPY CONTAINS REFERENCES TO GUNS WHICH ARE NOT FOUND IN WHILE PLAYING. Controls - W - Stand S - Lie down A - Left D - Right I - Open Inventory Space - Perform Action Up - Previous Action Down - Next Action

i don't see any bad glitches, And i am So into the game now! but i dont know what to do after i get inside the house.
There are some pretty bad glitches, but they only pop up occasionally. Once you're in the house, think outside the box to get through the door.

(view all replies)why is the character a door?

Oh wow, I didn't know you could query on contents of local sprite variables from another sprite! Too cool! Great use of the 1.2 features.
