Dont you recognise the format of the old Comedore 360, it's almost an exact replica, exept for the basic, (it doesn't work like it does in the origonal comedore)
Not long before I found your project I was feeling very nostalgic for the days of MS-DOS! I began with version 2.11. I still have Borland's DOS database program "Paradox" on my Windows XP desktop! I learned many things about computing from editing my "autoexec.bat" file to make my computer bootup just the way I wanted. And batch files were very powerful. Thanks for giving me this visit to those days! :-)
I still like command line interpreters and use them in some cases. And I enjoy running modern computers at high speed with self made Pascal programs (credit again to Borland for Turbo Pascal). On the other hand it's great that a way of thinking that didn't care at all of the available processor performance (Smalltalk) led to a product like Scratch which makes programming creative and accessible as never before.
No, the name is a composition of 'felidae' (biological family of the cats) and 'DOS', an ancient most successful operating system.
Download this project!
Download the 9 sprites and 44 scripts of "FeliDOS_1_0" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
This started as a project to make a monospace font for variable printing on the stage.
Then I couldn't stop experimenting with it. What you see, is an impression what computing looked like years ago.
The Java-Player seems to enforce uppercase letters, which may influence the program as well. Download recommended.

This looks like a very close replica of the old Comedore 360, it's basic is a little glitchy but other than that, id say it's pritty good.
Thank you, Absentryan!
I love it. Its one of my favorite projects. Its just perfect!
Thank you, soularcher!
is the type of basic syntax you're using, q basic cause it looks like it
Yes, in a way. But I'd rather say, it is even more like the grandfather of QBasic, which used line numbers to be jumped at by GOTO commands.
i put it in my gallery. "food gallery and other cool stuff."
wow.... thats epic
Thank you, iahawkeye!
EPIC
Thank you!
Awesome!
Thank you, Reese-O!
(view all replies)Strange OS - but definitely a good effort!

Thank you very much, LS97!
Nice! Very clever!

(view all replies)Great revival and nice font! This project is also useful because it shows several possibilities to display text and messages on the stage. Cool! :-D
Vielen Dank für das Lob, grandloup!
For reasons from the hearth and not from the head, I miss the old DOS, the Basic and so on. Good, to remember.
Yes, it's quite the same with me. I often think respectfully how much could be achieved with very restricted hardware at that time.
lol, nice! Is this a spinoff of GLaDOS? Just wondering, the names are similar.
