Download the 5 sprites and 9 scripts of "4 ScrollingDemo" and open it in Scratch Project Notes
This projects shows how to make a scrolling game. Move using the left and right arrows, and jump with the up arrow. Can you modify this project to make it into a game? You could try adding more terrains, other characters, more animation and key controls for the player, or music. What else can you make using scrolling backgrounds? Maybe a tour of your street, a flight through a fantasy world, a walk through your favorite comic? Or whatever else you can imagine! Thanks to archmage for making this project!

Yes, you can offline. Online, the Java Player shrinks the sprites. Also, it doesn't really make a difference, as either way two sprites will be used to scroll.
hi takide- you probably need to download the latest version of scratch, and then it will work.

I got 1.3 on Scratch. Why don't I see new samples?
they're in there! This one has been added to the games folder. Do you see it in there? Also we added a new folder, lists. Do you see that?
(view all replies)Aww they wrecked the code in the player sprite. Now you can jump forever. I guess it was too complex originally.
yeah, sorry about that- we were trying to keep it as simple as possible, to make it easy to understand, and a good starting point for people to create their own versions. By the way, thanks for the idea for this way of scrolling- it's so clever and simple!
