I've never tried drawing a sabertooth cat... but it's a very nice idea! I might try sometime ^^ I like drawing lions because my favorite part of big cats to draw are the front legs... and it's so awesome when they're covered with long fur.

I like drawing panthers because you can draw them in all sorts of interesting poses, they're so agile and flexible. Also, they don't have any "special parts", like a mane, or belly fur, or highly visible markings, which means I can fully focus on the structure and anatomy, without thinking of the details. My usual drawing "topic" is motion and anatomy. ^^
