LINE is a one sprite one script platformer (save the script trees) that is possibly the hardest and most advanced platformer on scratch. I assure you that you will NOT beat this game first try, mainly because it has the steepest learning curve in the universe. I used a LOT of free time to design the levels for this game because of the interlaced art style I chose to go by, about 48 images worth of levels.
Navigate through 5 interlaced levels of hell with your little Nostalgic Interlaced Guy, who is able to jump very high, run very fast and change his direction in mid air. No enemies, no moving plaforms. Just classic platform scaling. :)
Controls: Arrow Keys to move, Up arrow to jump. You can move in mid air, but slower than you would on the ground. There is no air resistance. Walls are bouncy, so watch out when hitting off of them. ;) If you're getting killed a lot, press the L key to input a level number and you will go to that level. It's not bad to cheat every once in a while. :P

boolean blocks are the diamond-shaped ones. they are either TRUE or FALSE.
Yeah - I know. Wait - aren't those Reporters? I thought booleans were the circle sided ones that used numbers.
if scratch makes broadcast blocks that you can use on boolean statements gems like these won't get the credit they deserve. :| i love it. btw, my computer is so slow this crashes it when i try to download it :)

Hey, I came really close to beating it, AND it's kinda glitchy, you used the "IF touching color'GREEN' THEN set Xvel to 0 instead of 1. 1 makes you not bounce off the walls without the Hit Test sprites. AND How did you make it so you bounce off the wals without the Hit Test sprites?
Why set the Xvel to 0? You're meant to be bouncy - makes it harder. :) Also - I used (Colour "" is touching Colour "") Instead of hit-tests because Hit-tests are clunky and for flash.

It's incredible that this is a one-sprite one-script game. I love it!

(view all replies)I'll admit, this IS the hardest platformer on Scratch. Sadly, I beat it on my first try, was so addicting, I played again and lost at lvl 9. Great game, LOVE AND FAVE.

Died on level 3, then 4, then on 4 again, then i got to 5, but I died and gave up :D.

woah. i put in 9 in the level selector and a real level poped up! it had the end of level one and it said level 5! wtf!?

In a way, yes, but the style is slightly different and the coding is different.
Still can't beat it.... 10 tries....... Still love it! The only painful glitch is when my head gets stuck and I can't go further. Anyway, I started a little 1-sprite 1 script competition, and you seem to be obsessed with 1-sprite 1-scripters, so look here if you want to enter: (link to forums)

why does it mess up when you download and play?
Play it in presentation mode. In Live-Debug mode it glitches out because of the way scratch livedebug is coded.

He creates all the land sprites, stamps them at certain points stamps a character that uses color detection, creates certain points where the color sets a checkpoint variable to a certain number so the next time the character dies the character will go back to the checkpoint variable instead of the beginning. Then he uses stamps to stamp the lives on the stage as the last thing so it'll show up and makes the character decrease lives by 1 everytime the character touches the color red. Understand?
