Download the 16 sprites and 44 scripts of "Glockenspiel Hero" and open it in Scratch Project Notes
Learn how to play random tunes on the glockenspiel and impress your friends with the magnitude of your scores. To operate, merely place four fingers of each hand on the labeled keys and press when the notes near the glockenspiel. The higher your score, the faster the notes come, so be on the alert.
To toggle the letters on the keys, press L. To toggle the display of the remaining time, press T (this doesn't seem to work on the website; I'm not sure why). I've also fixed a glitch in the score display, so I hope it works correctly now.

It's a musical term, like allegro or forte.
It means really slow in Italian.

Well, not really. "Grave" means really really slow. In this case, it also means your score went below -25.

15 cuz the letters disappeared when i was only 1/4 through... :( try to improve that plz!!! good game tho. :D
The letters disappear when your score gets to 25. I figure if you do that well, you don't need them, but maybe they should come back on if you get below 25 again. Thanks for the feedback :)

You have to hit the corresponding keys at just the right time. Concentrate on pressing "a" until you get an idea of the right time to press. After two minutes, you'll see your score.

This is hard! And if it's hard it makes you wanna practice and make it easy. So the hardest games are the funnest, and I can say that for this one too :) And the animations are well done too. They don't contrast, and the black background accents the colors. Shortly put - AWESOME PROJECT! xD

I like it, but in my opinion, the only way to learn how to play the glockenspeil, or any instrument, is through application and practice, not through a computer program.
I guess you took my description of the project a little too literally. I was aiming for sarcasm, but it might have been too subtle. I'm glad we agree.
I made Glockenspiel Hero as a spoof of Guitar Hero because like you, I think games that involve everyday things are less worthwhile than games that let you "do" things that are impossible for most people to do, like perform surgery or design a rollercoaster. It's silly to play a cooking game when you can just go and cook :) When I try to play games like Guitar Hero, and fail miserably, I remember that I can play the piano and that's a much more impressive and meaningful talent.

Try concentrating on only one or two notes until you get the hang of it. You don't lose points by letting notes pass, you only lose points by hitting keys at the wrong time. You can work your way up to the whole octave :)
This is awesome! I can see you put a lot of work into it and it really looks good. When does the score appear?
I like your hour glass idea. I like the concept of showing values without using numbers. I'll have to think of something that would be more in style with this project.
I tried to make it so you could press t to toggle a display of how much time is left, but this doesn't seem to work on the website. Do you have any idea why? I'm using the block that shows a variable.
(view all replies)You can also get an approximation of your score by the tempo level. You start out in andante, but when you get to 25 points, you graduate to allegretto. Between 50 and 75 points is allegro, and so on. If your score becomes negative, it will switch to largo. You can get a good idea of your progress by paying attention to the speed.
The game ends after you play for two minutes and displays your score. Do you think this is a good length of time? Maybe I could make it so the player can choose...
