Paddle2See- I recently tried my hand at a slope-surfing project, and I ran into a major problem: how do you locate the point of tangency between the ball and the slope? Anyway, here's the link: (link to project) Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Fantastic! I just downloaded, and wow, that is a lot of variables! I couldn't do that even in 10 years from now, I am pretty sure, well I might... but still I doubt it. I really like this!
Thanks! This is one of my hairier projects, from a math standpoint - a lot of trigonometry. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could make something similar - or better!
Unlimited would be difficult, since I am using sprites for those objects and there is a performance price when your sprite count goes up. Enemies and bouncers sound interesting...how would they affect the marble?
That's an interesting idea...maybe up/down keys move the paddle up and down what left/right rotate the paddle? Or, I suppose, the mouse could move the paddle while some keyboard keys rotate it.
Theres is a problem. If the ball is teleporting and it touches another( like you touched the square but during travel it touched triangle) it teleports to the triangle instead.
hey, i decided to release the long history of my JDI title in a project. i would appreciate it if you read it as well as any other moderator interested. if it doesn't do well when it releases, i don't know what to do.... im actually quite scared now....
Concerning your comment on my elastic collision project: I believe you set up a trigger to tell the marbles to "roll" when moving more slowly than a certain speed. There is just a small amount of "snap" when the ball starts rolling on the surface. There were no other problems that I could see.
Lol! Thanks - but members of the Scratch Team don't usually feature their own projects - we want to leave room on the front page for other people. This project has gotten a lot of views without more advertising anyway.
Prestige sent me to you. Prestige said that you helped him a lot. Prestige saw my OS and liked it, and wanted me to show it to you. Try it out, but download it first. (link to project) Thanks!
Nice. I like how you can setup a level and how if you leave the default setups you can leave the ball and it goes through automatically. *presses love-it*
No, it doesn't. But it's pretty easy to work around that lack. Just start at the innermost part of the formula and start putting it together from there. Some operations don't matter what order you do them in so (3+5+6) could be made either as ((3+5)+6) or (3+(5+6)). What's the formula?
A kit of parts for making your own marble rolling layouts!
It's pretty slow online...download and play in Presentation Mode for best performance.
Updates: 12/23/09 - Added bouncing. Also made it so that the ball can be thrown with the mouse. New setups.
The Parts ======= All blue ramps and purple boosters can be moved by dragging from the center and rotated by dragging from the ends. The brown squares teleport the ball from one square to the other square. The upward pointing green triangle teleports the ball to the downward green triangle.
The Controls ========= Use the mouse to drag ramps, boosters, teleportation items and the ball around and rotate some of them. Use the Clean Up button to put all parts back in the "box" on the right. Use the Next Setup button to cycle through some preset layouts that I made. Note that one of the setups is designed to be used with the "ball throw" feature...it's kind of like an aracade game - you try and throw the ball so it runs up a ramp and ends up in the teleporter.
Credits ===== Many thanks to MathWizz for the inspiration!
Technical notes =========== The hardest part of this project was coming up with the correct math to locate the ball on the top of the ramp at the right spot as soon as the ramp sensed contact. There are still some strange things that happen if a ball hits a ramp from the underside...the ball magically appears on the top of the ramp!

WOW nice job :)

(view all replies)Ooh! Coolness! :D Have you thought about unlimited ramps, boosters, and teleporters? Or maybe enemies or bouncers?
Unlimited would be difficult, since I am using sprites for those objects and there is a performance price when your sprite count goes up. Enemies and bouncers sound interesting...how would they affect the marble?
(view all replies)wow this is cool. you seem to have a good knowledge on scripting. ever thought of making a pong game where you can rotate the paddle?
That's an interesting idea...maybe up/down keys move the paddle up and down what left/right rotate the paddle? Or, I suppose, the mouse could move the paddle while some keyboard keys rotate it.
(view all replies)Brilliant work.
Beautiful. You do some amazing Scratching...

Good point! That's a bit of a bug, thanks for pointing it out :)
what do u do heeeeeellllpppp
Just drag the ramps around and make different tracks for the marbles. There's really no other point to it :)
AMAZEING!
awesome project! I think this is one of the best games (on scratch) that is bassed on balls. :D
Thank you cmy2 - for your kind comment :)
(view all replies)I placed the ball on one of those bars...
Oh wow... Shadow?!
That is fun. :D Reminds me of iPhone Bubble Ball... that app the fourteen-year-old made... Also, really fast on Flash!
Soon you will hear of the famous kid that made an app, too. that kid will be me.

Magnetic ramps? Lol :) Yes, that's the way I did it, as I recall.
awesome physics!!!!
OMG NICE PHYSICS ENGINE!!!
How coulc this NOT be featured!

Thanks, bitz :)
cool
Awsome! Love it!
U R VERY GOOD AT SCRATCH!!!!
Wow!!! How long did it take you to make this thing!!!! Your programming skills are amazing!!!!
:) Many, many hours! Thanks for your kind comment and thanks for giving it a try.
this is fun.
Reminds me of Cat Physics on iPhone :D
That is the best game ever!!!!
(view all replies)OH THAT GAME IS FUN! XD I'm stuck on a level though, can't tell you which cos [singing] My iPod is broken!!![/singing]
(view all replies)I found a video of it on Youtube! It looks like great fun. I kind of wish I had an iPhone now...
(view all replies)I haven't seen Cat Physics...sounds interesting - I will google it!
(view all replies)Love it? um... yeah!
Amazing! :D
Thanks platform710...I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
(view all replies)this is awesome!
oh sorry I just noticed that there is a few examples but you should probably still make that button
Well...you can always make your own by just dragging the pieces around. Saving your creation though...that would be a nice feature!
Awesome game, but you should start the program with a few different examples and then make a button to create your own.
Please help me fix it! I will give you credit. (link to project)
Its Awsome!

could you look at my game (link to project) ? There's a glitch that makes both difficulty cpu's appear. If you could help me fix it, that'd be great!
I saw your simple pinball base. Can I use some of the bouncing scripts? I'll give you credit.
Of course! That's what Scratch is all about :)
(view all replies)cool! online!
So, did you use simple pinball base to start this on? That is most likely why the ball move upward when it touches the underside.
I think I did start from simple pinball base...but then I fixed the ball hitting from the underside issue. I fixed it on this project anyway.
(view all replies)Did you close the Stand up to the Comics thread cause of my report?
You are certainly correct that focusing attention on those comics just feeds the Trolls :)
(view all replies)Nice. I like how you can setup a level and how if you leave the default setups you can leave the ball and it goes through automatically. *presses love-it*
check out my new game mario level editor you playas luigi!! XD
the preset one is awsome
its a love it from me
Thanks! I'm very glad you are enjoying it :)
(view all replies)im getting sooo addicted to this
Cool
musical bounces! XD
This is amazing. Is there any way I can join the scratch team somehow, even though I live quite a distance from Michigan?
I don't know if they are hiring...but you can apply at the MIT Media Lab I guess. That's in Massachusetts.
(view all replies)love it. beautiful physics.
Thanks knight5656 :)
(view all replies)Paddle2See I need your help. I want to do a formula with Parenthesis. Does scratch have a Parenthesis block? (Or something that's the same)
