I really want to go to MIT when I'm older. I'm trying really hard in math and science... maybe I'll get to be an engineer or something awesome like that. Scratch has really helped me out a lot. By downloading math projects, I have been able to learn quite a bit. M biggest challenge will be leaving California for Massachusetts. But being surrounded by all those opportunities and geniuses at MIT seems like a dream come true.
It's great that you have a clear goal in life! And MIT is an awesome place, that's for sure. If the move across country is too daunting, remember that there are some really excellent engineering schools out your way too. Stanford and Cal Tech come to mind :)
Nothing violent? That's just a bit unfair. Shouldn't it be something like no excessive, limb-removing bloody violence or something. I am under 15 years old and think absolutely no violence really restricts creations to very basic games (no enemies, no traps, no bombs, no weapons all pretty much lead to a boring creation). Maybe no blood, but no violence is just...(haha i don't believe I'm saying this...)wrong...
(I copied that on the forums) I just wanted to ask you about it....okay?
The line between acceptable and not-acceptable is pretty hard to define exactly. The Scratch site is visited by people of all ages so the material on the site should be something that people of all ages can view and enjoy. So a level of violence is tolerated (just as it is in kids cartoons) but it should not be overly explicit. Hope that helps!
You have good taste! I had to look H2G2 up but, yes I'm very fond of Douglas Adams' series. The movie was okay too but I thought the books were better. How about Discworld - are you familiar with Terry Pratchett?
I realy like it,I've been to maine once,It's a beautiful state.one of the advantages you have with math and scratch are the number formulas!you can use those to help with things like the formula block.you can use sqrt, abs and lots more!
Well, it's most helpful for doing motion of sprites...if you want a ball sprite to look like it was thrown and land at a given spot (for instance) it helps to know that thrown objects travel along a parabolic curve.
My newest project is about a myth. I added a physics problem to it. Please add your valuable comments for my improvement. Thank you for looking at my project, Regards, Ahaan.
Hello again Paddle2See...This is Ahaan. I was attempting a project recently and I wanted to used lists. {It is the first time that I am trying to use lists}. In my project, I want the list to hide for a period of time and then show once I need it to. I cannot see any block which will make the list hide or show. Is there a possible way to hide/show lists in a Scratch project? I really wanted to use lists but using a hide/show script. Thank you for all your help, Regards, Ahaan.
Sadly, there is no Hide/Show list block in Scratch yet. The only way to do it right now is to make a sprite the same color as the background and cover the list up with the sprite. Very crude, but it is the only method right now. I hope that helps.
a couple of years ago i went to maine and saw some puffins at eastern egg rock. have you been there? what you do is go on a boat that goes out to eastern egg rock and there are puffins if it's the right time of year. :D
My wife and I went on a whale/puffin watching tour a couple of years ago...it wasn't Eastern Egg Rock, I think it was Mt. Desert Rock. But we saw the puffins - they are cool looking birds!
hello again. i just was thinking. have you seen my orbital shift 2 demo V2? it uses a specific set of simple scripting designed by me to make a simple 3d enviroment. when the base enviroment is finished, i can add extra details. its the same basic scripting as my JDI game will have. i would appreciate it if you could check it out and give me your opinion. also, who do i talk to about my team using scratch in a real competition?
Hi, sorry not to get back to you sooner...I'm on the road and internet is not always there. I look forward to seeing your project when I get back home and things work more smoothly. As for using Scratch in a competition, I don't think there is any problem with that...what do you mean by your team? What did you have in mind - it sounds interesting!
Hi. Need some advice. What can I do to check why a project which has been successfully uploaded cannot open up? Do you mind checking this project for me please - (link to project) ? Thank you.
App is short for "application" - a program. I'm not that familiar with Youtube videos so I'm not going to be much help here. Maybe you should post a question to the All About Scratch area of the Forums, somebody probably has the answer...
I wenk kayaking in montery! it was be-u-ti-ful! I'd have to have a 4000 word comment too tell you all of it. anyway, how do you get featred because I would quite like to, but i dunno how. thanks! oh, and why havend you shared anything latly?
Montery is lovely - I visited it a few years ago. I would love to kayak there sometime. Featured projects are selected by the Scratch Team - they pick projects that they think will inspire other Scratchers. To see what they are looking for, take a look at this

your life seems interesting :) i see you like kayaking i like canoeing. there was this one time when i was in disneyland i was in a canoe with a bunch of other people and we almost tipped over lol :)
Thank you very much Mark, nice to meet you.
I loved your Son of String Art Project and I`m using that for play with my little daughter with real string art. It was a excellent source of inspiration, like others projects i´m studying now.
Again, thank you.

look at this game by an excellent scratcher: (link to project) that will give you an idea of the boundaries of violence and gore

(view all replies)Sir, I just remixed dapontes' latest projects. I will be extremely grateful if you could take a look. Thank you. Regards, Ahaan (link to project)
have you read any of the cherub series or the harry potter books is so reply i love both those series
I read the Harry Potter series...it was a lot of fun. Who wrote the cherub series?
(view all replies)Hi! Remember me? It's me, Sanity! How's it been? Nice project!
Great! There's lots of new features in Scratch now too, to help with your ideas. Be sure to pull down a new version :)
(view all replies)Hi Sanity...haven't heard from you in a very long time! Things have been fine here - how have things been with you?
(view all replies)yeah! i have 3 cats too!
Go cats!
(view all replies)I wouldn't dare to live in Maine (thanks to Stephen King) But I think it's very beautiful :)
lawl
Yes...Stephen King wrote some very creepy stuff - but in reality it's no worse here than anywhere else :)
(view all replies)Soo.... are you like a proffessor at m.i.t.?
Not at all...I don't even work at MIT. I just work FOR them over the internet, from my home in Maine :)
(view all replies)I've only did kayaking once and I loved it! Maine sounds lovely, I'll have to visit it sometime! :)
My wife and I are still kayaking (almost 850 miles this year!) but it's getting very cold (snow last night). I recommend summer time for a visit :)
my mom is in maine right now
i LOVE kayaking but i love surfing more are i am a big fan
Surfing is great! We don't have a lot of good surf around here though so we have to find other fun ways to play in the water. Thanks :)
I really like canoeing, kayakking, Paddle to the Sea, and Bok, Trickett, and Muir! What are the chances? *P.S. Do you like H2G2?*
Never read the Johnny Maxwell series...I'll have to see if my library has them :)

Hi yourself! :)
it's a small world, i guess..........
No, not a worried parent :) Just trying to think if I know you in the real world...I don't think it's likely. A pleasure meeting you anyway.
Why do you think so?
(view all replies)hi i like scratch but i dont really like math. how does math help u do projects on scratch?
Or, if you were trying to do a pinball project with gravity and bouncing...a knowledge of vector math and trigonometry are useful :)
Well, it's most helpful for doing motion of sprites...if you want a ball sprite to look like it was thrown and land at a given spot (for instance) it helps to know that thrown objects travel along a parabolic curve.
thanks for helping me and kayaking sounds like fun
You are most welcome...and it is fun!
(view all replies)wow i thought you where a kid i like the sound of that stuff you said but unfortuantally i live down here in the uk
Just young at heart :) Nice to meet you...I hope to get over to the UK some year. I hear it's got some great kayaking!
(view all replies)paddle to the sea sounds like an interesting book! is it still being sold somewhere?
Well, it's listed on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/Paddle-Sea-Sandpiper-Books/dp/0395292034/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253133510&sr=1-1

Hi there. This morning i received a gift song from the Lord for you. Please visit (link to project) and listen to your song. God bless you.
Hey Paddle2see I made A day in Life too. I know you like those projects so I made it. Please check it out

(view all replies)I think it's really cool how MIT created a website like Scratch because not only kids love it, adults do too!
Yeah...it's pretty great like that!

There's probably some app somewhere that will strip out the audio from a Youtube video for you.
(view all replies)I wenk kayaking in montery! it was be-u-ti-ful! I'd have to have a 4000 word comment too tell you all of it. anyway, how do you get featred because I would quite like to, but i dunno how. thanks! oh, and why havend you shared anything latly?

so its the cats that you and the scratch team got scratch cat
How did they come up with Scratch Cat? Good question! I'm not sure...maybe Andresmh knows, he has been with the project from the start.
(view all replies)No...the Scratch Cat was invented before I was a team member :)
(view all replies)btw go to this project it has you (link to project)
your life seems interesting :) i see you like kayaking i like canoeing. there was this one time when i was in disneyland i was in a canoe with a bunch of other people and we almost tipped over lol :)
Sounds like an exciting time!
A well-done portrait of a very full life! Keep paddling and Scratching. Very useful scripts, too.

Sure! You tracked me down - thanks!
Your an adult?
Last time I checked :)
(view all replies)Hello!!:)
Hi - thanks for stopping by :)
Thank you very much Mark, nice to meet you. I loved your Son of String Art Project and I`m using that for play with my little daughter with real string art. It was a excellent source of inspiration, like others projects i´m studying now. Again, thank you.
That's neat that you are using it to help design real string art! And thanks for your kind comment.
Hi! I love your games! As you've been told a lot...
hello paddle2see it is nice to meet you! :~)
Hi coka - Thanks for stopping by and saying hi!
