The tutorial runs perfectly online but my downloaded version gets to the point where Cat describes getting a link to one's project by right-clicking, and then the Forums page slides into view and covers the Cat. The rest of the process of getting and applying the link is obscured by the Forums section. I downloaded the project twice and the same thing happened. Nothing was modified. Any idea what could be happening here?
It looks like when they released 1.4 the Switch Costume block became case-sensitive so the names in the script have to match the names in Scratch exactly. I uploaded a new version that should work...you might have to restart your browser to see it (or clear your cache).
Who would have thought of right-clicking on a project's image?! Great! I always loaded the project and copied the URL off the browser address bar, so this is a valuable set of tips! And your presentation is top-notch!! Thanks!
You get more views because the people that use the Forums will see your advertisement and, if you've worded it attractively, follow your link and try your project.
Hi paddle. I just wanted to ask you to view and give a review on my newest project, When the lights go OUT! i finally finished it. hope you like it: (link to project)">(link to project)
(link to project)">(link to project)
Thanks you really helped me! But I once linked one of my projects to a friend, then i wanted to link the project to someone else, but when I sent it, it said sorry you have posted the same message recently. What should i do?
Yeah, that's a feature to keep spammers from pasting links to their projects all over the place. In a couple of days you will be able to paste that link again. Until then, you may have to get creative...substitute "+" for the dots (or something) and have your friend switch back before using it? That might work!
meee yowww, very good project to show scratchers how to add projects to show and tell! me glad you use scratch cat,and now more scratchers will use the forum. bye bye now, meee yowww. keep scratching!
The biggest problem I see on Scratch right now is the difficulty locating projects. I have been advocating for over a year now for a way to build more complicated libraries than is provided by the Galleries (in their current form). If galleries could contain other galleries, then you could build very useful structures.
But...I think that as more teachers become aware of what Scratch can do there will become more of a need for well-constructed educational games. I visualize teachers guiding students towards these games as a supplement to the usual classroom instruction. So I am focusing on trying to educate teachers (as well as children).
I think you may have hit on a fundamental truth about the number of "doers" versus "viewers". I know it is true of myself...I get much more enjoyement out of the creative process rather than actually using most of the projects I build myself. And even when I view the best projects I get more enjoyment out of learning how it was coded rather than actually playing the game (one recent exception: ffred's puzzle game).
Well...I like it. It has beautiful scenery, both inland and along the coast. There's almost never a problem with traffic jams. On the downside, good paying jobs are hard to find and the winters tend to be long and cold. If you have specific questions, just let me know!
Hey, I bet you have a Mac! Are my instructions in this tutorial accurate for Mac users? Do you have the Copy Shortcut menu option - or is it called something else? Thanks.
Right...I wanted to use a non-moderator account so it wouldn't have any confusing options. PaddleSmart is an account I created to show projects at a canoe and kayak safety symposium so it has paddle safety related projects. Plus some just for fun!
by the way, have you seen my newest project; Light The Candle? its pretty interedting, i made something a bit like a touch-screen with slide capability. also i made a sprite go to a spcific place on another sprite, while the sprite is rotating from another point, if you know what i mean... not to spam, but i really think you'll find it interesting :) also i made those two things make sense together! XP
This was SUPER helpful. Just used the advice with No Problemo. If you get a chance, check out my newest animation (Gummy Bear related). I put a LOT of work into it... is there a way that I can request it be featured somehow??
Well, you can't request for your own work to be featured. But there is a thread where other people can make recommendations (link to forums)">(link to forum)
Please don't ask me to post to it for you...I don't want to get into that business, no matter how good the project is. Sorry.
wow, thank you, your a real (internet-) friend! just what i needed, and it was really helpful to see an example of what you could write. i had like no idea of what to actually post! im so happy, you made my day! WEEEE!! (i just had to scream)
=)
This is a tutorial on how to post to the Show and Tell Forum. Press Space to move to the next step.
This was written using the same tutorial language as my List Tutorial project. See the Project Notes there for complete documentation of the language.

Sounds like fun...When will the judging be done? How do you say which categories your entries are in?
(view all replies)i'm holding a contest and nobody seems to notice it:(
Yay! I was wondering how to advertise projects!
how do u get views from that
You get more views because the people that use the Forums will see your advertisement and, if you've worded it attractively, follow your link and try your project.
(view all replies)even your tutorial is animated nicely..

I like your solution! Get a bigger cake - that's funny!
(view all replies)'fraid so...it's funny, the years go by and the next thing you know, your birthday cake has a ton of candles on it!
(view all replies)Yep, that's me...just a young kid of 50!
(view all replies)It's entirely up to the Scratch Team. They pick the projects to be featured. Today, they seem to be featuring older scratchers!
(view all replies)meee yowww, very good project to show scratchers how to add projects to show and tell! me glad you use scratch cat,and now more scratchers will use the forum. bye bye now, meee yowww. keep scratching!
that was great

featured! congrats!
This is great. But I do not think that enough people look at the Show and Tell. What can be done about that?

(view all replies)That I don't know...you can't force people to use the forums. Any ideas?
(view all replies)check out me doodle game. arg. ;D
hey paddle2see i am doing a state report on maine can you tell me what its like 2 actually be there?
Well...I like it. It has beautiful scenery, both inland and along the coast. There's almost never a problem with traffic jams. On the downside, good paying jobs are hard to find and the winters tend to be long and cold. If you have specific questions, just let me know!
(view all replies)I noticed the user is called "PaddleSmart".

Nice. Which beach is that?
You're right...I should probably use one of my own beach shots. I have enough of them!
Are you kidding? That's one of the standard Scratch images! The image name is "beach-malibu" so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say...

You're welcome! It's great to see such enthusiasm!
I PUT MY PROJECT IN THE FORUMS AND COME SEE IT NOW!!! (link to project)">(link to project)
This Seems cool
very in-depth tutorial. I didn't know you could "copy shortcut". That's very helpful!
Yeah, I always thought you had to go to the project and copy from the address bar.
Yeah, that's something I learned on the Forums, oddly enough. I think it works on Macs...if you have one please let me know if I wrote it up right!
Very nice, an excellent tutorial!
hey p2s this looks pritty cool i'm just waiting for it 2 load
WOAH FIRST COMMET!
I assure you, there have been billions of comets before! lol
