Well, it really needs somebody to add puzzles to it...these would be the outline of the shapes to be made without the lines inside to show you which piece goes where. And then some interface to allow you to go from puzzle to puzzle and show you the answer if you are stuck. Also a mode with no puzzle if you just want to make your own designs. That's what I would like to see this project become. But, I don't have a burning desire to make it all happen...I'm hoping some Tangram fanatic will be inspired to take it further, now that I've added in the mouse interface for piece rotation. You know anybody who might be interested?
Nice. I've always thought that this would be a good application of your drag/rotate scripts. I like the idea of presenting an outline (just the shadow, without revealing the component positions), and determining whether the answer is correct using some kind of fuzzy comparison of relative positions/angles for each puzzle. A "give me a clue" button would also be interesting. I hadn't thought about restricting the angles to 45 degree increments, but I suspect that is OK, since I doubt there are any puzzles that would require arbitrary orientations.
I guess, like most everything else, it's a matter of taste. To me, the animations are fun to watch but what I really want to do is play with the shapes. So I shortened the animations and put in a bypass. The wonderful thing about Scratch, is somebody else can remix it in a totally different fashion to suit their tastes. No need to compromise at all, just make it the way you want.
Fullmoon - I agree. The animation is fun to watch the first time but it goes on too long. I'm trying to think of an elegant way to bypass them (mouse click on the background or something). Or, maybe just a menu. They were part of the original project and they do add charm but now I think they are too long.
cool project... the reason why the profit is negative is because right when you buy the stock, before the price changes, you will have a profit of (shares*value)-(shares*current buy value) because that is the formula that is why the profit is negative
Thanks! Some ideas for improvements: 1) Have some outlines of shapes that people can try and fit the pieces to. 2) Some way to bypass the introduction if all you want to do is play with the pieces. Any takers on another remix?
The point of Tangrams is to make pictures using the shapes. You can try to make
a house, a ship or a rectangle or anything you like! The shape must contain all seven pieces.
And the pieces may not overlap.
Based on Goch's wonderful project, this version let's you move and rotate the pieces using the mouse. Thanks to Chalkmarrow for the idea of applying my rotating/translating scripts to Tangrams.
Controls:
-----------
To MOVE click and drag near the center of the piece.
To ROTATE click and drag near the tips.
To FLIP the pink piece over, double click on it.
Use Space to reset the pieces and the up/down arrows to change the size of the pieces.
Old Controls
----------------
I have left all the old key assignments in as well so, if you prefer, you can use the keyboard:
To rotate you can use these keys:
R (for the red piece), Y (yellow), G (green),
D (dark blue), L (light blue), O (orange) and
P (pink).
For some shapes you have to flip the pink piece with the F key.

Okay, for now, I have shortened the introductory animations to about 17 seconds. I still am working on a bypass option.

Fun! The animation is a bit much; I though those were the tanagrams to drag for about 10 minutes (my school computers are awfully slow).

This is better than my project. I looked at the scripts. And I must admit: this is too difficult for me. I don't get it.
