At last, I could see and destroy the enemy with a great risk of my own life because I allmost crash against him in order to shot him for sure, because the projectile is very lazy.
I like that - lazy! That describes it very well. It is also true that if you had crashed into him, he would have sunk like a stone. I made the fighting part of this game extremly easy!
This is a really beautiful game! I'm very impressed by the scrolling engine so I'll be checking out Captial next. The sailing part itself is really well done and the whole game has a great feel to it.
bla-You are right! Many of the islands in this game have been mined for granite (Russ, Green, Crotch, others...) but Crotch island is the only one that still has an active mining operation.
hey These are islands from Maine. I know this because Crotch island was once a island where they mined granite. I went to the musuem, on an island near there where they have this huge elaborate model , that moves and has sound effects. The place is about 2 and a half hours from Mount Desert Island in maine.
dreamer - Some islands you can visit multiple times and get benefits, others are a one-time deal. Once you find the enemy once, they will reappear on a regular basis at various spots on the map.
kamesh - Yeah, it does best online with a fast machine. Be sure you have the wind behind you or coming from the side too...that has a big impact on speed.
AddZero - Yeah, it's usually a blast! Lots of beautiful islands, many with public access and camping. If you're feeling energetic, you can get all the way out to Isle Au Haut (High Island) - the big island to the south - without too much effort. For us, it's about 1.5 hours driving to the put in so we don't get down there as often as we would like.
Whoa, nice work! I didn't realize I had a cannon for a while. I found a blue boat and I shot it. It was bad right? I mean, all those people- no chance for a trial. I guess it's ok, if they where on my land... Yeah, it's all my land, posted no trespassing. :) It's been a while, this came long way! very fun and cool.
Amazing game. Has a richness and playability you don't see a lot in scratch games. Also, great use of the scrolling aspect of Capital. As an aside, many of my ancestors lived just NW of this area during the shipbuilding years of Belfast and Northport. Never been there, but it looks like a great place to kayak...
ffred - Well, maybe I did make it a bit to complex! My hope was that you would find the clue on Millet, then use the map (by pressing the M key) to locate the enemy and destroy them. After you have sunk the enemy where Millet says to find them, they will reappear randomly at one of three different locations.
More complex and difficult yet than the previous one with a sailboat. I’ve to download to sail because “the wind didn’t blow” online. With “my wind” I sailed to Russ island and then to the Millet one, where I’ve heard about an enemy. Then I landed at Spruce where nothing happened. Much later on, I sailed around the Grotch island and I saw no enemies. With the wind from behind, I got land at Green Island where could buy some provisions but none clues about the next spot to visit. Then I got tired. This project is a piece of art, indeed.
Dreamer - Sorry if the boat goes slow on your computer...this game does require a pretty fast machine. As for the boat size - yeah, it is hugh compared to the islands (it scales in at about 300 feet long!) but that was a design choice I made as I wanted to be able to see some detail on the boat yet not have the "world" be too big.
Wow nice project! Please look at my project at (link to project) ! It is REALLY good. it even has a high score list. You could get a new high score and have everyone see your scratch login name!
Cool! But the boat goes a little slow and the islands are really small compared to your boat. Your boat is would be huge if you could see the whole island up there
You're lucky, where I live in Seattle, we have an unofficial archipeligo in Puget Sound, but we have major weather problems, along with earthquakes and whales. Plus, the distance between islands is large.
Thanks for all the kind comments! Lilhd - probably you got off an island right into a head wind. That will make it so you can't move. You have to be careful what angle you launch at, with respect to the wind. Sometimes it's worth it to drag the boat to the other side of the island. I do agree with you that there should be more of a mission. I'm afraid my imagination kind of failed me there. Any ideas?
