hey MyRedNeptune, i was wondering if you wanted to be the critic for Best Graphics for the Scratch Awards. please reply to this post here: (link to gallery)
Oldschooler, where did you get the russian letters? I thought you said you were from America. Oh well, guess I have to write in russian on an American keyboard. Ti Doorak! That was all a waste of space thank you very much.
Hi. So sorry, I'd love to help you out with the dancing animation but i cant. I'm working on something else, but if you really cant do the animation you can ask me again.
Never mind, I deleted it. Some kid thought it was bull!@#$ and gave me nasty comments. I didn't like the project that much anyway. Kind of an embarrassment and I was sparing anymore humiliation by deleting it.
Hey check this project out: (link to project)
I made a blinking eyes animation. It kinda sucks but you should see it and comment on it anyway. I can do better, and I will. The blinking eyes took only 10 minutes to do...by the by...
I find that I don't have the patience, talent or tools for extensive graphics. I admire people like yourself that do! I like to do projects that have good "play value" (a very subjective thing, I am sure), things that I would enjoy playing with. Or that do something unusual in Scratch. I have dreams of actually doing a Scratch project that might perform a useful function, probably in the educational area. But I also really enjoy games and simulations. So I'll see what develops, it's all good!
Sorry to keep hijacking the comments for this project...feel free to delete to clean it up later. Are you saying that Sea Battle is the original game that Battleship is based on? I know we used to play a paper version called "Salvo" back in the early '60s - I expect there are a lot of ancestors to the idea! I'd love to see the work you did on "Sea Battle", if you don't mind sharing it. I've been thinking about doing another sea battle game that isn't tied to a grid, something a little more flexible, that maybe I could use some of your work on. As far as "serious" projects...I don't think too many people would classify a Battleship game implementation as serious! Although it did take a serious amount of thinking.
Hi MyRedNeptune! I don't know if this is the right spot to drop you a note, but hopefully you will find it! I did look to see if a Battleship had been done before and was surprised to not find any that actually worked. Battleship has always been a favorite in my family so I decided to code it the way we always played it; one shot per ship. It would be easy to change it to other styles of play. It took me the better part of 3 days, working probably 8-10 hours a day to make this project. More time was spent on a very strange bug I encountered in the online version (I'm isolating it now for the Scratch team). I know my graphics are not very good, I focus more on the inside, as you say. I think it would be great if you felt like doing better graphics for it. I would also like to see your version of the game up and running as it sounds like it has some interesting variations (mines! cool!). The logic for the duck AI also took a lot of time, I've gone to a two-tiered search pattern randomly filled to try and catch large ships first, then look for smaller ones. There is room for improvement. Anyway, I had a lot of fun on this and I'm sorry if I "stole your thunder".
Well I couldn't say I made other animationns in such a short time. This was a record. I spent five hours animating Booplaoo's bird, for example. :) Thank you all!
MyRedNeptune you're a good scratcher so could you add all the projects you think are really good to my newest gallery cause it needs 0 projects to begin
Thanks

I draw all my sprites in Paint.NET. It's a free Paint Editor and was meant to be a "free version of Photoshop". Indeed, it has most of Photoshop's features. If you're interested, you can always download it at http://download.com/
