It's been two years, and here's another May 9 project! This time we're celebrating with our three little friends.
To explain the picture: Rodie, the one with the bouquet, is the only russian in the lot and thus is the only person who is familiar with the russian celebration of May 9 Victory Day. The other two, Zara and Mappa, spend their time studying the pretty ribbons that Rodion gave them...rather than actually celebrating.
I would like to repeat Rodion's question: Are we russians the only ones who celebrate this? If country also does, how do you celebrate it?
The music which I so roughly cut is called A Mining Town by Joe Hisaishi, and is from the Laputa - Castle In The Sky original soundtrack.

(view all replies)This is actually on this date the Russian army entered Berlin during end of second world war. It was a very hard war wor the Russian people.MILLIONS of soldiers died.Adolf Hitler killed himself when he saw that it was over. You should have included historical explanation for this
That's not exactly accurate, the army didn't enter Berlin on the 9th. It was April 22nd or 23rd, I believe. The 9th was when Germany surrendered.

Put the wiki and the scratch on a different layer in gimp (download it if you have to). use the magic wand to select the area around the word wiki. Feather the selection by one pixel and delete it.

I have not know anyone to celebrate this. However, this means very little, I live in a very culturally bland city (I only know like two African Americans). One interesting thing I found out that you all might like to know, (please don't feel left out MRN) The Mexican Holiday Cinco de Mayo is celebrated all throughout the United States, mostly by white people (only one, small village in all of Mexico celebrates it) That would be the equivalent of all of Mexico celebrating Gettysburg.

Russia is in Eroupe and Eroupe have won wars, have lots of wonders of the world and we celebrate new year before you do. Canada 1. Russia 3. :)

Rodie is nervous and seems to dislike everyone, Zara babbles all the time, and Mappa is a thoughtful introverted type who likes to watch the others from a distance. Actually, now that I think of it, he's a lot like Russia except for the fact that he's not insane/creepy/cruel/whatever
