Synesthesia is a real condition experienced by about a small percentage of the population. There are lots of good Discovery Channel and Science Channel shows about it, and wikipedia has very good information about synesthesia
*Once I get 20 love-its OR 15 favorites, I will either add more colors and letters to this version OR make a music synesthesia project, but I will try to do both if I can get around to it.

i also think of colors when i think of certain people.
is this a form of synesthesia? i can smell hot and cold and can taste it too. ican also smell burnt smoke.
Um... lexical synesthesia is where you hear sounds and taste things... so this is not a very accurate test. Try grapheme synesthesia, that's where numbers and letters are colored.

I have synesthesia, but not this type; I associate colors with personalities. I just chose random colors. XD

Yes I do, I am a synesthete I didn't find matching colour for some letters and numbers with the test. But all the letters and numbers should not be only black. The different numbers have different colours, for example for me: 1=black, 2=pink, 3=white and so on. Letters are the same, A=maroon, B=green. In my case when I hear the numbers or letters the colour simply appear in my head. Well, you can say inside my head is pretty colourful..lol.
THis isn't an accurate test. People probably just choose random things.
a big nope for me! tht sucks but the strange thing is i dont see the numbers in different colors but i can match them up with what kind of color would fit them best like the five should clearly be a cobalt blue (which is my favorite color) or maybe a saphire and my G is a dark almost black green
I have Personification Synesthesia. It's the only reason I've gotten so far in math.... Are you sure only 1 in 1 million have it?? Because I know a few people w/it..... thanks! :)

(view all replies)Um... Could you add a wider range of colors? 7 is a reddish vermillion(for me), but the orange isn't right and red isn't close enough. This is going to give me a headache! That's pretty cool to know though... And H and everything(almost)
I don't think numbers and colours relate to each other but that's just me. =D

cool test, but why is there no gray? I felt weird having to choose between black and white for H.
If I make another version, I'll put gray in. None of these letters or numbers are gray for me, so I didn't think about that.

I'm glad that's how you feel! I made this project to help people realize if they're a synesthete, and if they aren't, to hopefully teach them about it.
(view all replies)thanks for the fun (and easy) test. someone was kind enough to tell me about synestheisa yesterday. I went my whole life with no clue that is what I have! Oh, and thanks for having the right color blue for the number five - most people use too dark of blue in the options. But who ever heard of a peach number? :) ha ha

I don't get it. All the letters were black and I clicked black every time and it says I have lexical synesthesia. So, if I were presumably "normal" or unaffected, what should I have seen? It seems irresponsible to tell someone that they have a condition in absolute terms in any case. It might be better to say "you may have lexical synesthesia."

i am very fascinated my synesthesia. it is my favorite disorder (which you can't call it because it is an extremely cool gift). i have read a really cool book about a girl with synesthesia. It is called "A Mango Shaped Space." Very good book. If you don't mind i would like to ask youa few questions about your synesthesia. I think synesthesia is the coolest thing ever.

I think I'm a synesthete. At least according to the synesthesia battery. I have this kind (the letters and numbers associated with colors thing) but the weird thing is that some numbers have personalities. Like, 3 is mischevious and 9 is a con man.
i have heard of number having personalities before. it sounds really neat! (it must tick you off in math though)

It is amazingly fun to click the exact same colour each time. I did this and it told me that I have lexical synthesia. Hurrah.
the reason it does this is because it only recognizes it if you click the same color each time the letter appears, and if you do this for most of the letters, it says you have synesthesia

okay, you don't have synesthesia, because a synesthete would "see" the color black and the "true" color for them

thank you for the loves and favorites! the word "meow" is a gray-blue-green, almost like tv static, but ocean-colored. and "yowww" is a yellow-green color!

Nice and informative! I have this condition with respect to numbers only, not letters, so I don't test positive with this particular project.
I have colored letters too, along with colored music, colored letters, and personalities for every letter and number
