you should make it go faster but other than that its realy cool. you should enter my contest. to find it click on my user name and find it among my few progects. PPPPPLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
itried to play it BUT it wouldent work so i downloaded it works grat i like it but it goes to slow so i amped it up and took out the if youre in the grass equations and put if space is pressed set speed to 25 and man i can go fast! it's good though nice script
I'm not likely to go back to this project, but feel free to make your suggested modifications and repost it! Be even better if you could create a computer opponent to race against!
You could inprove some minor things, like "if touching color dark green set off road to 1 on the car and also on the car "If touching color light brown set off road to 0" and then add "If off road=1 move at (less than on road speed)" along with "if off road=0 go (current speed) and "if touching light green set off road to 2" and then needed "if off road=2 set( speed to inbeetwenn onroad and offroad" Also around the color gray have mountains apperear. And then also script "if touching mountains stop moving, set offroad to 4" "if offroad=4 (stop moving)". Thanks, thats a light discription but... anyway its really good anyway, so if you can't change it or don't want to its fine.
Most of my projects are about seeing if something can be done, and then providing the means to do it to others, so they can use them for their own projects. Though I dispute your claim that none of them are entertaining - what about "Zombie attack", "Starfighter X" and "Gobo and the Flood"?
hope this doesn't make you feel bad Mayhem but your games are extreme design and very hard to create but none of them have the great entertainment This game would be great with CPU racers and more courses
Mayhem - You also have 3D Racing project? I've never seen it before! Vy teh way: the waypoint system will not work, cause they also have to scroll, and they will "stop" on the scratch border. Mayeb i can use a small minimap, let the AI move there, and then calculate if opponent needs to be visible, and where. What do you think?
the way i managed to have 2player scrolling in naval warfare was because the moving background is sea and doesnt change. it would be harder with a set course to follow. if anyone is interested in seeing my attempt at a scrolling racing game this is the link (link to project) im afraid it doesnt have multiple views of the car though.
i really love this. combining scrolling with 3d sprites. welldone! im afraid i agree with alvekatt, i think it should turn less. but its definately worth the love it i gave you
Nice project! By the way I have this new magic project with your username and some of the other major Scratch usernames on it. So please check it out! :)
I don't think the car needs to turn less, but I think I might need to put a "wait 0.05 seconds" inside the turn command. Accelleration and braking might be a nice idea, too. Two player *could* be done with a split screen...
Nice! I would make the car turn a bit less though. What's the next step, implementing accelleration and decelleration distances? Did you download Artrage? :) Is the car supposed to go as fast over the areas of green paint as it does on the road? The dark green area slows it down, but the light green has area seem to lack resistance. Simple request, put a finish line in and another car thatis controlled with WASD. Then you can race your friends! :)

that's pretty good. Although, consider the car sprite turning a bit slower.

Download "Scrolling Demo" and have a look at the scripts.

How do you make the backround do that?
(view all replies)Comment Reply
Ahh, I see what you mean, now... Hmm, tricky. You could have lots of mini-sprites, though, as you describe. Be a bit of a pain...
(view all replies)Comment Reply
Hmmm, I guess there is nothing stopping you from making lots of tiles at 30*30?
(view all replies)Comment Reply
Bigb has already done something similar, though I havn't checked out his scripts... (link to project)

There could be a 30 pixel border between the frames to hide the partial sprite.
(view all replies)Comment Reply
Maybe.. But if you split the screen, where would the sprites go when they should be partially visible next to the split seam?

Uh, I just realized that the request wasn't that simple... I for one can't imagine how you would solve the scrolling with two cars...
