Non-scientific creation stories are stupid if you try to take them literally, but if accepted as mythology they are both entertaining and a useful look at other cultures
A mystical or sacred syllable in the Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist religions. In Hinduism, the syllable Aum is first described as all-encompassing mystical entity in the Upanishads (the Hindu Scriptures).
Abiogenisis is a rather trickier matter, but here is a description of the iller-Urey experiment that produced organic molecules from non-organic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_experiment Again, its rather technical...
The evidence strongly supports three theories. The Big Bang theory explains the material universe, the theory of Abiogenesis explains the origins of life, and the Theory of Evolution explains the diversity of life. Each of these theories has been tested time and time again, and so far, all of the data we have been able to gather has reinforced these theories.
We like your project. Tatum wants to know how you knew what to make the characters look like. Jensen wants to know if it was hard to make it. Sean thinks you should add sound.
Sean - good idea! Some traditional Indian music in the background and some sounds effects for the animations would definately make it better, but I often shy away from sound because it causes some projects to lag online.
Jensen - not really. The only complicated parts were caused by me trying to use less scripts to do the same job - instead of using variables I could have used a long string of broadcasts and wait commands which would have been very straightforward. Some of it was trial and error - where should this character appear, how should it move - I tested it and changed what didn't work.
Tatum - I searched the internet for images of Vishnu and Brahma, and chose the ones I thought looked best for animation. I'd rather have found a more "cartoony" version of Brahma, though.
If we accept at face value your assertion that the world has a lot of proof that there is a god, how do you know which god it is? Have you conducted research into the different gods that mankind believes in and come to an informed opinion, or did you just believe the first thing you were told?
Heh - actutally the bible has two slightly different creation stories. Which one is the true one? And what makes your holy text more intrinsically true than the Hindu holy text from which my story comes? Or the holy texts of any other religion?
Technical question: Was it the numeric broadcasts that was messing up the graphics? Was this developed in 1.3? Because I am having trouble replicating the numeric broadcast problem in my test case...
In fact, the hindu faith has more than one creation story (as does the bible, in fact). As far as I ca tell, in this version Brahma tries to create man the same way as he created everything else - by thought alone, but fails. He then realises what he needs to do - use his body as well as his thoughts, and he splits himself in two to make the first man and woman, Manu, Shatarupa, the ancestors of the whole human race.
That's a good question - it does not specify in the story I based this upon, so I don't know if the answer is "yes" or if all of this was made ready for a later coming on mankind. I'll look into it.
Well, if you know it is just a story, I am confused as to your need to post about not believing in it. Its akin to posting on a story about 3 little pigs, apologising for not believing it. Very strange.

Great visualazasion of mythology! I can't believe someone would think that this acctually happend though...
(view all replies)the big bang might seem imposible to believe if you didn't understand the evidence behind it.
Thanks
God created the world in seven days. It didn't happen like this
(view all replies)Makes about as much sense as a magic man in the sky creating everything.
I think you need to reread your hindu mythology.
Why?
Cool, we are learning about Hindu beliefs in history class.
Goood! Keep believing it!
It might be interesting... but it isn't true God created the world in 7 days NOTHING more NOTHING less

(view all replies)i'm a hindu/u.u. myself. too bad i haven't had time to read the six hindu books so it's always a treat to learn more.
so stupid but so funny

Great project! I always like seeing the creation stories. It is interesting to see how they explained things before now!
How is it that in your comments you can dispel any arguments?
what is Aum?

... You should have got the nickname 'Doctor Mayhem' or something...
Really, it should be "Mister Mayhem" as that's the character my picture is of.
(view all replies)This is wonderful. How about adding so sitar to it.
I'd like to, but haven't gotten around to it.
(view all replies)r u a christian?

(view all replies)Do you believe this?

And this one has a summary of the evidence for the Big Bang, but it is rather technical. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_bang
(view all replies)This wiki article contains a reasonable summary of the evidence for evolution: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Introduction_to_evolution

(view all replies)I ought to extend it a couple of scenes, to include Brahma's creation of the first man and woman, Manu, Shatarupa.

I've seen this project already, it's kinda a weird creation story :S
(view all replies)What evidence did you have in mind? Surely if there were evidence it would eliminate the need for faith...
Its also extremely rude to write off every other religion as being "dumb stories".
If we accept at face value your assertion that the world has a lot of proof that there is a god, how do you know which god it is? Have you conducted research into the different gods that mankind believes in and come to an informed opinion, or did you just believe the first thing you were told?

(view all replies)Nice! This creation story is second only to the flying spaghetti monster story, which is my current go-to theory :)
You should animate it for us :D
Technical question: Was it the numeric broadcasts that was messing up the graphics? Was this developed in 1.3? Because I am having trouble replicating the numeric broadcast problem in my test case...
Well, I got rid of "Broadcast "Variable" and replaced it with "Broadcast" 1 etc, and that seems to have affected a cure.
In fact, the hindu faith has more than one creation story (as does the bible, in fact). in the story, are humans part of the creations of animals?
That's a good question - it does not specify in the story I based this upon, so I don't know if the answer is "yes" or if all of this was made ready for a later coming on mankind. I'll look into it.
Graphics are now fixed.
I think it is the use of numbers for broadcast messages. That doesn't work since 1.3 came out.
Ahh - thanks.
I thought it was just a layer problem...but now it appears that the background is not changing either. Something else going on here.
Where did your wonderful graphics go? The online version is missing all the illustrations! I loved it once I got to see it.
I am sorry. I do not beleive this. But you have an oppinion, so do I. I won't be one of those jerks who flag it just because you don't beleive it.
(view all replies)you aren't supposed to believe it! you're supposed to watch it and be culturally enriched.
(view all replies)You don't have to believe it. It's like other believers not believing in your religion. Everything has flaws, but is all interesting.
Well, if you know it is just a story, I am confused as to your need to post about not believing in it. Its akin to posting on a story about 3 little pigs, apologising for not believing it. Very strange.
(view all replies)It's just a story, like any other creation mythology.
