My smoothest game to date, drawing together the things I have learned so far - Scrolling backgrounds, multiple bullets, multiple variables, power-ups, and nice explosion animations. At the beginning of the game, you can only fire one laser-bolt at a time. After every wave of aliens (50 aliens in a wave) your firepower increases so that you can fire 2, 3 4 and eventually 5 bolts at a time. You'll need the increase in firepower as every wave comes faster than the last. Survive five waves and your win, gaining a bonus to your score equal to 1000 points per life you have left. A useful point to note - the explosions are seperate sprites, not costume changes on the base sprite. On death, the alien hides, and the explosion shows. This allows me to use "if touching alien" as my collision detection whilst allowign you to fly through explosions with cinematic flair!

No, not even the first by me. I think the first true scroller on scratch was "Capital" but I could be wrong.

i made a non-scrolling game a bit like this a long time ago, it was maybe my 4th game, now i still cant get it online and theres no point in sharing it anymore because theres already so many like it and someone will say i copied it
I made a game kind of like this called Streak.It's a lot like this, only the enemy ships are attacking a transport ship, and they move on a set program: they constantly rotate like a ferris wheel. You control a ship that follows your mouse, and when you hold the mouse button down, your ship shoots a short range laser that if you do not let go of the mouse button, it does constant damage to an enemy.

Really? I honestly can't see one. The sound effect is slightly delayed but the actual laserbolt seems to launch pretty much immediately.
When you fire, there's a delay before the jet actually shoots.

Dave911 - after each wave of aliens, your firepower increases so that you *do* get more than one bullet - 5 by the end of the game.
Great game, great scrolling, great music! could use more than one 'bullet' though.
a very fun and well presented game congratulations. i love the animations. one way to make it run faster is if you change the moving backgrounds by making the darkblue parts clear. then make the actual background darkblue. you cant notice the difference but it runs faster.
