I've learned some new tricks during the creation of "3D dungeon adventure", so I'm hoping to come back to this soon and improve the ghosts AI. I'll make it so that they move randomly until you get within a certain distance, then they will pursue you, but will no longer get stuck in corners. Maybe sunday.
i cant remember. that was one of the main reasons why mine origionally went through walls however people still tell me it has happened again. the easiest way to solve it is to move the coloured parts to diferent places so they do not overlap.
Where they together at the time? When they get together, they inerfere with each ohers abiliy to detect the walls. As far as I know, thats the only time they go through the walls.
If I had time, I'd probably re-make the maze in a more regular fashion, so that all junctions were teh same distance apart, and give teh ghosts a choice at each junction. Primary choice would be a direction leading towards pacman but otherwise turn left/right or straight depending on what is available.****************************** In the meantime, the quickest fix might be an "I'm stuck" motion detection script that fires if the ghost hasn't moved and makes it move up to the nearest junction.
if you add a bitt of randomness they get stuck less. what im really trying to find for mine is a way that the ghosts work out the shortest route to the pacman.
Using a new method for collison detection and key-press detection.

Added a semi-intelligent ghost. Its smart enough to home in on Pac-man, but can be hung up by corners.

Added a second ghost. To make things trickier, one ghost has a preference for moving horizontally, the other for moving vertically, so they are not stuck together too often. Unfortunately, they do interfere with each others collision, so if they do get together they tend to walk through walls. Need to fix that.

Yeah, once they get to the same spot their sensors interfere with each other. I wonder if ghosting them would help. Hmm.

I recommend the method I used for the dots to anyone makign a pac-man game - its much much easier than trying to do it with sprites.
