Actually, I like how this differs from merely a polar-coordinate version of Tetris: There's something about the continuum of collisions that is very clever. That being said, if there were some way of collapsing the shapes inward upon the occurrence of some event, that would be interesting as well.
As EdnaC said, this could also be fun as a circular Tetris. The blocks could snap to form circles and then the circles would disappear and move allow you to make more space for stacking. I agree too that a round border would help.
Nice, original idea!
Yeah, circular is the way to go. Then you won't think you're okay and then get killed when you rotate a block into the top of the screen. Awesome game!
Left and Right to rotate the planet.
When blocks hit your planet, they become part of it.
See how many blocks you can stack before part of your planet touches the edge of the screen.

What 12bpawn is refering to is a similar game called GeoBlox located at www.funorb.com. Apparently he/she is not a believer in parallel evolution.

Mayhem: Good idea re the whole random color thing. I think that would add an interesting dimension. The color might also correlate to the shape.

Chalkmarrow - it might be possible to give the blocks a random colour, and have them vanish if they touch another block of the same colour...

I should add a circular border instead of using the edge of the screen, so that you are less liley to succeed by chance when doign nothing.
