It's very good. It's helpful to have the pensize option so that you can choose the quality of the pic - even though it does take about 12 hours on pensize 1 (I've not tried this lol)
hi joeyman, well, you can adjust the positions of the balls using the x, y, and z sliders; then you can adjust the sizes and colours. Once that's done, press the RENDER button to make the program start drawing the scene in 3D.
I've fixed a couple issues. Pen size can now be set before you start 'rendering'; adjusted the colours to (hopefully) be more accurate; fixed blurry ball sprites (now they're not blurry!); and changed beginning variables, notably: ball positions.
Thanks!
Whoa! I definitely have to compliment you and Canthiar on actually doing this... IN SCRATCH!!! On the other hand, it is pretty crazy to do this. Why would anyone use it at all? Why not use something suited for 3d; like Blender?
Thanks a lot bubble-07! You'd have to check with Canthiar, but I'm assuming he made his raytracer to test or else show off Scratch. I actually play around with Blender as well, and love it! In fact, it was playing with Blender that helped give me the idea to add on to Canthiar's awesome project.
Thanks fbboi999 :D
Really, it's Canthiar's project that is amazing! I just put together a way to play with his project.
I'll be fixing the pensize and a couple other things that I'm not satisfied with as soon as I get a little more time. Hopefully later today!
Canthiar's Original Raytracer project and notes: <A href="(link to project)">(link to project);
This is a full raytracer written in Scratch that supports ambient, diffuse, and phong lighting, light occlusion and a single level of reflection. Running this program requires a lot of patience since it can take several hours to render the scene with the pen size set to 2. This was a lot of fun to write. I think the Scratch team has done a wonderful job in developing such an extinsible language.
LoganK's notes
When I first saw Canthiar's raytracer, I was amazed, but a little disappointed that I couldn't change anything. So I downloaded it and then was doubly amazed at the math that was involved. Once I figured out how to change the positions of the objects, I wanted an easier way to do it. That's when I decided to try and make my own remix. I hope someone else finds it interesting. Even though I don't get most of it, it was fun going through Canthiar's code and figuring out a little of it. ...if anyone's interested, it took 12 hours, 8 minutes and 24 seconds to render the entire scene at pensize 1.

Hi crazybrat101, once I fix the pensize issue, a larger pensize will make it draw faster, but it won't look as nice as a small pensize.
