Maybe someone could make something like Terragen in Scratch. Actually, I heard about Terragen because it was used to create images for some projects on this site. It's a great program
do the programming? You got me! lol.
Lots of math it looks like. Actually, Canthiar's got a bunch of tutorials on his page, if you're really interested. :D
It's very good. It's helpful to have the pensize option so that you can choose the quality of the pic - even though it does take about 12 hours on pensize 1 (I've not tried this lol)
hi joeyman, well, you can adjust the positions of the balls using the x, y, and z sliders; then you can adjust the sizes and colours. Once that's done, press the RENDER button to make the program start drawing the scene in 3D.
I've fixed a couple issues. Pen size can now be set before you start 'rendering'; adjusted the colours to (hopefully) be more accurate; fixed blurry ball sprites (now they're not blurry!); and changed beginning variables, notably: ball positions.
Thanks!
Whoa! I definitely have to compliment you and Canthiar on actually doing this... IN SCRATCH!!! On the other hand, it is pretty crazy to do this. Why would anyone use it at all? Why not use something suited for 3d; like Blender?
Thanks a lot bubble-07! You'd have to check with Canthiar, but I'm assuming he made his raytracer to test or else show off Scratch. I actually play around with Blender as well, and love it! In fact, it was playing with Blender that helped give me the idea to add on to Canthiar's awesome project.
Thanks fbboi999 :D
Really, it's Canthiar's project that is amazing! I just put together a way to play with his project.
I'll be fixing the pensize and a couple other things that I'm not satisfied with as soon as I get a little more time. Hopefully later today!
Canthiar's Original Raytracer project and notes: (link to project)">(link to project) This is a full raytracer written in Scratch that supports ambient, diffuse, and phong lighting, light occlusion and a single level of reflection. Running this program requires a lot of patience since it can take several hours to render the scene with the pen size set to 2. This was a lot of fun to write. I think the Scratch team has done a wonderful job in developing such an extinsible language.
LoganK's notes
When I first saw Canthiar's raytracer, I was amazed, but a little disappointed that I couldn't change anything. So I downloaded it and then was doubly amazed at the math that was involved. Once I figured out how to change the positions of the objects, I wanted an easier way to do it. That's when I decided to try and make my own remix. I hope someone else finds it interesting. Even though I don't get most of it, it was fun going through Canthiar's code and figuring out a little of it. ...if anyone's interested, it took 12 hours, 8 minutes and 24 seconds to render the entire scene at pensize 1.

WOW! I would never have thought this was possible in a language like Scratch. It's amazing.
I used pensize 10 lol :) I never have the patienceXD and if you put this in flash would it go faster?
wow really nice job!
thanks!
this is so amazing!
This Awesome! I can't believe someone had the patience to let it go all the way through with size 1! ;)
Pen size 1 looks really cool.
I thought so too! Wait a second... you haven't been waiting for the last 2 weeks for it to finish at pen size 1... have you?! LOL
(view all replies)cool
Im also in the middle of trying it with pen size 1
I just dont get it... HOW DO YOU DO THIS??????

hope u put it on tele one day i want it 2 put on tele e-mail me nd i'll put it on tele

just even trying to understand the script totally blows my mind!
wow!!
what do you do?

you could make it go a bit faster...
OMG THIS IS INSANE!! how did you make this?! just LOOKING at one of the scripts gave me a headache! you deserve the title of best project ever!.
Thank you, but I can't take any credit for the amazingness; Canthiar's the master! I just added the startup screen :D
you deaserve all of it!
DUDE! This is incredible. You do some great work!

I'm going to fix the pensize issue, and repost it. Thanks for all the comments!
Thats alright, it is actually not bad...
(view all replies)oh, and how do i make it go faster?!?
Hi crazybrat101, once I fix the pensize issue, a larger pensize will make it draw faster, but it won't look as nice as a small pensize.
i'm watching it go right now, it takes forever, but its awesome!!!
It won't let me change the pen size!!
whats ur point?
I'm going to repost the project with this fixed, thanks!
(view all replies)dont get it at all. I did it twice changing the things but it didnt really change
FINALLY YOU GET FEATURED LOGANK!!!! Thanks andserscmh (or however you spell it)
Thanks logan996! I'm very happy! Even though it's Canthiar's project that's the awesome part.

takes way to long to render
wow! it looks so cool! please check out (link to project)">(作品链接)
Thanks, I'll have a look :D
and yes the pensize always sets to 3 when you click Render
Thanks fbboi999 :D Really, it's Canthiar's project that is amazing! I just put together a way to play with his project. I'll be fixing the pensize and a couple other things that I'm not satisfied with as soon as I get a little more time. Hopefully later today!
Wow this is great! I honestly don't know exactly what it is, and I definitely don't know how you did it, but it looks very professional at the least!
Featured!!! Wow! Thanks everyone!
Congrats on getting featured...
thanks!
(view all replies)Very nice project :P
Thank you :)
Hmmmm..... the smaller the pan size the better the image...
Oh, I see. COOL!
How long does it take on pen size 10?
Awesome work, both of you!
THIS IS FEATURED!
That's cool. There seems to be an issue with the pen size getting reset when you hit the Render button.
Thanks :) It's Canthiar's raytracer though, I just added the interface.
and lighting!
DUDE AWSOME 3D SECENE!!!
I downloaded his and set it to 0.1. I left my computer alone for a week, and when I got back, it was almost done...
