Nice. Hey, I want to know... I'm thinking that making music projects may become my modus operandi, as far as Scratch is concerned. Since you seem like a Master Scratcher, I would like to get your opinion of my two most recent music projects: Learn A Simple Song, and Music Maker.
Heya Jens.
My Minesweeper game, which uses a list to keep track of the mines, is not working properly online. Can you hve a look, see what you think? Cheers! (link to forums)">(link to forum)
Sure, you can do anything if you edit the source code. In fact, I have been sucessfully experimenting with a mechanism that lets you build your own custom blocks by using such an "atomical" warp-block for a month now, and will probably publish it as soon as the official source code for 1.3 gets released
Yes, you can just update your project again using the exact same name to replace it. I do it all the time, improving and debugging my projects, because once they're online that's when all the ideas really start coming, lol!
I downloaded this project to see the scripts and hear the song but when I looked at the scripts I was amazed what you did in them! I did not know you could use lists to broadcast with. I guess I learned something today!
Download the 3 sprites and 51 scripts of "Rainbow" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
-experimental-
This project interprets a set of its own musical commands stored in a list to simulate a guitar singer.
It's just a quick test of how you can implement your own programming language in Scratch.
I'm calling this one Rainbow ;-)
Its set of commands is as follows:
| - measure mark ||: - start of repeat block :|| - end of repeat block x-chord - play chord n for one measure y - play note y (n-beats) - set duration of following notes rest - rest
It works best when downloaded and played in edit mode.
Can you transcribe your own songs using this format?

this sounds like the version IZ played on his ukulele. great!
Super !!
Pretty cool!
I think this is still really cool! Part of this reminds me of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz"
Haha, actually it is based on a transcription of Israel Kamakawiwo Ole's version of Somewhere over the rainbow (the one with the ukulele)

This is way cool! If I have time I'm going to post a song with it.

hey jens is it possible to undo the 0.01 wait inbetween loops in scratch? (cool project :) )
Yes, in fact, that's something I already did. I'm just waiting to port it to 1.3 :-)

(view all replies)Marvelous! The language is wonderful...but the comical graphics really won my heart!
This project looks different since I last looked at it. Is there a way to update your project online?

I made the commands more expressive and added repeat-block capabilites.
uhh... written jens, though.
third to comment on one of yens' projects! kewl!

The guitar part is not working online yet, because it uses numerical broadcasts. Oh well, let's just wait for the java player to learn Scratch...
wierd guitar and man . the mans hands r wierd lol
