Whoops! Nevermind! I just downloaded the newer version from your link, and have been playing around with it for a while. Has anybody told you how awesome you are?????? If not, let me. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jens, could you please suggest adding this into Scratch to the Scratch team? I would probably die from frustration if it was not in the next version! I have SOOOOOO many things which desperately need this, and using a psuedo-random generator, while it keeps the same numbers so long as the seed is the same, does not allow for writing into it......
pleez answer back extremely quickly! I need to know if I can use the feature "replay" on games, basically I need to know if it can record the full movement of several sprites so I can make a movie (or sort of), pleez tell me quickly I'm workig on the game right now so I need to get it before I'm done
Once Scratch will officially support lists you will be able to record & replay sprite movements. Probably the blocks in the official Scratch version will have a different wording and other meanings... we'll see
Jens, I made a project which explains how to speed up Scratch, made in this style, which I think might be of interest to you :) (link to project) tell me what you think!
Alternatively, for lists, you could use the same hack as my musical record here (link to project).
It definitely doesn't break compatibility with Scratch and you get a decorative band in your project as well ;-)
if you use
when flag clicked
clear array
forever
change arraylist by 1
set arraylist at arraylist at 1 to 0
when flag clicked
forever
say size of arraylist
wait 1
say arraylist
you get a lockdown and walkback.
downloaded the chirp file for it, but I couldn't unzip it. It kept saying "error-domain" What could I do to get it to work? In case you couldn't tell, I find lists VERY cool, and I have a couple of projects that could use them instead of my color-based onscreen array.
logan996: Yes, I'm the author of Chirp. The zip-file is intended for squeak-programmers or mac-users. If you're using Windows, just download the installer and run it. Bosox397: I'm not a member of the Scratch team, they just made me a forum moderator, but I'm really just a regular Scratch-member
Jens, did u make the scratch edited version called chirp? i downloaded it but can't find out how to run it (i put the unziped folder on my desktop and can't find the run file)
Thanks for checking it out! Hmmm, What kind of troubles? I cleaned the directions some. Click, let go, for it to start recording. And made it so you don't have to click the green flag to make it work when downloaded. I'm wondering if it's skipping some of the reads or writes... Thanks for chirp btw!
Very cool. Your mouse record sample inspired this: (link to project) I'm trying a labor intensive method of arrays, but I think it can expand ok. I'd rather use your arrays though!
demosthenes, as far as I know that beta version is still at: http://scratch.mit.edu/pages/beta , although I would *not* recommend using it, because it had several bugs which are fixed in the current release of Scratch.
Here are your questions:
1. What is it that makes you want to make blocks and patches for scratch?
2. What gave you the idea for chirp?(by the way, it's awsome)
3. When using scratch, what makes you want to make projects?
4. On a 1 to 10 rating, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, what do you give scratch?
5. Do you have any future plans to make patches and other new things with the Scratch Saurce code?
Answer questions on one of my projects.
-Jman
Jens, I am from the Scratch.Mit.Edu magazine and I am here to ask you if you want to be interveiwed, it's just fiv simple questions about scratch that I will post on one of your projects, ten answer them on one of my projects, please write back on one of my projects.

Lucario621: There is. it's called Chirp and the Scratch Team even gave me a website for it: http://www.chirp.scratchr.org . At the moment Chirp doesn't support the lists of this project yet, but eventually it will...
What I meant was that I get a red line around blocks that I try to activate where a white line usually is, similar to when you try to drag motion blocks onto the stage. However, the problem is gone when I use it on a different computer.
fullmoon, I left out the conversion code needed to save projects in this patch, so that no incompatible projects can be produced. That's why you get the red blocks whenever you try to save a project using the new list blocks. I might eventually release a "real" version with a different project file format / project file name. In the meantime, you can experiment with this patch and save the Squeak image instad of the project.

I didn't integrate lists into Chirp (yet), instead you can download a separate version from the links in: http://www.chirp.scratchr.org/blog/?p=16
