Change the broadcast block in the first script on the stage to 'mode: dynamic' to try out your own songs - in dynamic mode you have to select Stereo Mix as your sound input device.

not bad, it would probably have a better effect if it were real-time rendered
If you download, set your sound input device to Stereo Mix or Wave Mix, and change the first broadcast on the stage to 'mode: dynamic' it is fully real time rendered.

I actually like the weird al version better but I thought it would be inappropriate for Scratch :p

Cool! I almost thought this said "remix visualization". I have a project like this but you need a mic for it to work.
This is amazing!! I tried it with other songs, and it still worked! If you were to remake this, I would suggest making the name of the song the goes by change to the song playing. Otherwise this project is amazing!

Could you make that script again, so I can create a list of volumes for any songs I want?
In this project the list doesn't contain actual volumes, they have a "smooth sea level" When a beat hits very loud, the volume will descend slowly, you can see in this project. The "flowers" have leaves with a straight line on one side and a rounded (smooth) one on the other side. I'll make a project for you that just stores real volumes.

I think I actually got it...but can you upload that project you said that you made to record all of the loudness values to a list, onto you're test account?
Did you manage to set your recoring device to Stereo Mix (Sometimes named Wave Mix) if not, tell me what OS you are using and I'll explain :) And I don't think I kept the project actually. I was one simple script. I can make one for you if you want :)
(view all replies)I'm thinking about using this as a DDR background. I've studied this project and I can see the the list 'sea' has all of the volumes at different times, of the song. I'm wondering how I could easily create a list, by using volumes. My microphone doesn't seem to do the job very well. How did you turn Gangsta's Paradise into a large set of volumes? Any programs that can do that?
You can change the project to work on a song you play on your PC outside of Scratch (see notes). Set "Stereo Mix" as your recording device. Scratch will act as if the microphone is recording the speaker output, but lossless :) I made another Scratch project to record all loudness values to a list :) You can ask more help if you want to :)

Great project! And for me it works fine online! I remember this song, but actually I don't, I only heard the Wierd Al version called Amish Paradise lol. And it is funny.

(view all replies)wow, this is really cool! except how hard was it to get the volume levels in the list? you must have used some sort of other program to put that in a text file for you, otherwise it would have been just gruesome...
I did it with another Scratch project :) but it was quite difficult to get it at the right timer levels. Thanks for your kind comment :D

No, of course not :) All mesh does is sharing variables (try the []of[] sensing block) and bbroadcasts - you can send a broadcast in one project and receive it in another.
