Very good. An impressively done project; I enjoyed the humour you threw in there, too.

Wow, I loved this project! I dont agree with everything, but you made me think, and I love to think. You are right, especially about experimenting with young children. Maybe some kids who are 9 or 10+ can understand, but you cant risk a 4 year olds life. I just added it to my favorites.

I just watched the abortion part, and I agree with you. A baby has the right to live. I also kind of agree with the "passive death" part, but I think people have the right to chose. Sometimes the pain is too much to bear. I wouldnt chose it (I value life so much...) but some people would.

I feel that the Catholic church is becoming rather obscure so who really cares what they have to say? However I don't to seem narrow minded so I do have to say that your presentation has made me think about the other side of these issues!

soundersrule soundersrule 1 year, 10 months ago

Guess how long the Catholic Church has been around?

jump4joy jump4joy 3 years ago

same as what JR-Bioetheics says but your right it has goten rather obscure

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 2 months ago

Actually, a lot of people care about what the Church has to say. Maybe it is more obscure in your life, but be careful not to make such a sweeping generalization. I'm glad it made you think, though. :)

This is propaganda of the most abominabol sort. This is primarily a children's website, and you have posted this, totally biased preaching. The only argument is from a cartoon charachter that you repeatedly make out to speak idiocy, and that is a subtle and kaniving approach to get an argument across, especially on a child's website. You disgust me, sir.

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 3 months ago

Well, excuse me. I have to say I disagree with you. I say in the beginning of the project that this is only one set of opinions, and that the individual must make their own decisions. I'm not trying to force ideas on people, but I am trying to raise awareness of issues which are increasingly important in today's world. You can't hide from the world - these are issues which are a part of society and people need to think about them.

I'm writing a story that kind of sort of deals with bioethics in some ways. I think bioethics really needs to be talked about more, many people don't realize the consequinces.

indianaj indianaj 3 years, 4 months ago

you must have spent a lot of time on this

jishera jishera 3 years, 4 months ago

Neat project. I'm sure people have learned a lot from this, even if it is mostly the Catholic Church's viewpoints. Makes people think :-).

What are your views on stem cell research?

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 4 months ago

Bring this question to the gallery. I want to try and contain the discussion there. I'm glad you are interested.

Nightwolf Nightwolf 3 years, 4 months ago

I agree w/ the bioethics but you might have to find a way to convince more non-religious people (not that I am, I love religion and I am VERY religious)

If the Catholic Church is so adamant that life is sacred, why are they condemning so many people in Africa to death by lying about the effectiveness of barrier contraceptives vs the AIDS virus? Yes, they actually tell people that these methods do not prevent the spread of AIDS for no reason other than they don't want people usign contraceptives of any kind. As a result or these lies, people die.

mouseytaco mouseytaco 2 years, 2 months ago

Strange how an evolutionist should be one to talk when evolutionists professors "justify" abortion, causing girls lives to be miserable, inspiring suicide. It is a lie to say no harm from abortion because pregnancy prevention methods work. They don't. Also, if evolution is true, there is no need of a moral law.

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 4 months ago

A good question. And a hard one to answer. I think the reason for this outlook by the church is that by their laws they condemn the use of contraception. There are several arguments for this, and the Church is steadfast in this position. So by trying to prevent contraception use in Africa they are following their own laws. To do otherwise would be to undermine the validity and sincerity of their belief that contraception is wrong.

Vis Euthanasia, I am fully in support of assisted, voluntary Euthanasia. An able bodied person can choose to end their own life at any time. We live in a society that believes in giving the physically disabled the same rights as the physically able - and that should include the right to die when they want to, even if it is an act they cannot perform unaided.

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 4 months ago

Just because an able-bodied person can take their own life at any time doesn't make it right. That is suicide. In the same way, a disabled person's decision to die is bordering on suicide.

I have to agree with Paddle2See. Your point of view seem to be mainly that of the Catholic Church. Maybe if you could find opinions from supporters of these things, then it wouldn't be as persuading, more controversial. Other than that I thought it was funny, well made, and creative. Nicely done.

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 4 months ago

Again, the point of this project was to show you the point of view of the Catholic Church. You don't have to agree. I do not agree with all of the Church's teachings either. But it is important to understand them before one criticizes or challenges them.

Paddle2See Paddle2See* 3 years, 4 months ago

Well...this project is very well constructed! And you present your arguments well, if a tad one-sidedly. Possibly you would like to take on the arguments surrounding contraception? I find the Catholic Church's position there completely unsupportable, given that we share a world with finite resources.

JR-Bioethics JR-Bioethics 3 years, 4 months ago

I know this seems one-sided. That is the point, to some extent. To show you one set of arguments which you can agree or disagree with. If you want to talk about this stuff, I'd be happy to. Just post in the bioethics gallery; I want to keep the discussion contained in there. I appreciate your interest.
