Yeah, its a pretty big game, so it runs really slow. I asked the Scratch team when I was at MIT why it does that, and they said its the converter. They need a program to convert the Scratch code into Java code to run it in the web, and the converter applet can only process so much info at a time. Thus, the crappy lag.
3. If you could change one thing about Scratch, what would it be? --- I only have 2 wishes with Scratch, so I'll say them both. One, I wish Scratch could do high-res projects. I make all my visuals in Photoshop, and they are all high-quality, but Scratch lowers the resolution when I import stuff. Two, Scratch projects can't connect to each other, or to multiple people, so things like MMO's or online multiplayer will never be possible.
2. Did it take you a while to get good at it? --- I was pretty happy with my skill level from the beginning. My 1st project was pretty messy, but I got better after that. The key is to plan out a project before you start. That's why it's called game "design" or project "design," not game "accident." If I plan out what I am doing, and take the time to do it right, it will always turn out good.
1. Where did you hear about Scratch? --- This past summer, I worked on a research project at my college. We were trying to use Scratch with middle schoolers to make an online magazine. So it was my professor who introduced me to Scratch, she wanted me to get good at it so I could help the students.
You mean like you design your costume and then play with it? That would be hard to do all in one program, these games are already pushing Scratch to the limit with all of the high-res images and sounds. But maybe I could make something where you pick pieces and colors for armor parts, and then can export that sprite as a character to be played in this game. Mm... very interesting idea.
Yeah. I used Photoshop to draw the first one, doing each body part as a different layer. Then I could more easily move the body parts around to get a whole ton of slides, quickly, to make the animations. Worked pretty well I think.
It wasn't too bad. Did you try entering in a code from last game, or just beat it as is? Also, if you wanna have a little more fun in the game, try typing FLY when you have the Help menu pulled up (press H for help menu).
Coincidentially, I'm also working on a scroller with a level that takes place in a weapons factory. I've taken a bit of inspiration from the first game in your use of laser barriers.
Wow...all I can say right now is that the level design is great! I love the perspective scrolling and the unique background design. The whole thing is lagging online so I'll download it right now then beat it!

love this game, just love it. i'm gonna hit the love it button right now
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
awesome, good job again, the animation of iron man is very well done, did u make him your self or get it of the internet.
I made all the animations myself. Used photoshop to do it, if you look at Building Iron Man (on my "more projects" column) it explains a bit how.
hard extremely hard
If you beat Chapter 1 and get one of the passwords, you can enter it in for Chapter 2 and then you will start with more health. Makes it much easier.
Check out my projects, including bla night live

(view all replies)wow amazing! nice iron man animations, did you draw them yourself?
Hey if you liked the game, don't forget the love-it button!

amazing, simply amazing! awesome this is what we have been waiting for! you rock! is there a ch.3 in the future???
Hey if you liked the game, don't forget the love-it button!
There will be yes. I'm not sure how soon though, I have a lot to do with classes and stuff.
Much better downloaded with a bit of lag. I'm still amazed that you drew Iron Man without the use of animation software.

Nice! laser barriers are a time-honored tradition amongst games, if you ask me. Let me know when your scroller is ready.
