Project Notes

I was standing; my shoulders slumped over White Lake. I had asked myself unanswered questions. Why? Well, I wanted meaning in this world. Not pain; Meaning.

“Why?” I jumped. That word practically fell out of my mind. I sighed, and turned to leave. It happened all at once. Someone shoved me over the side of the hill and into the icy water. My brain pushed away my instincts from the sheer terror, and I went under. My eyes were wide, and hands outstretched. But I was frozen. I didn’t know why, but I was fighting the numb instinct to close my eyes and disappear. I kept my eyes wide open.

Then I was caught, I think. I felt a hand, and then I was dragged onto the shore. I gasped and coughed, finally taking in the face of my savior.

She was blonde, with grass-green eyes, and hair that was tied up in a ponytail.

The boy who pushed me – Farine – snickered a bit, then let out an indignant, “Hey, wait a sec…!”
