Battery Torture Chamber Electric car batteries will be critical in the renewable age. Car batteries fail for many reasons. This overview of electric car batteries and their problems will illuminate critical problems faced by electric car designers. Students can use the models built in Scratch and Java code (www.processing.org) to explore a simplifed lead acid and lithium ion battery under stress. This battery torture chamber will allow students to heat, shake, break, and destroy batteries using different methods. Students will better understand the basics of battery design by breaking them in this virtual cartoon world. Will electric car batteries survive repeated cycling proposed to balance power grids?

An overview of US Wind Power electric power grids. Tres Amigas is an energy market hub using superconductor powerlines to interconnect the US three power grids to enable wind power to be utilized nationally. 1. Electric vehicles will not charge at night with renewable power. Wind and solar power are unavailable at night. 2. V2G grid connected Electric vehicles will not be used to cycle todays batteries due to cost. Cycling wheres out the battery prematurely. 3.
