The Magical Journey of the MoonMoth
A game by Fractal
Ahh the life of a moth.
These little creatures spend their evenings flitting about searching for the light of the Moon.
Some moths are special. They have a mission in life - to fly high and reach for the moon!
How they get the energy to fly so high was a mystery, but you can see for yourself how these pretty little insects capture magical moondust contained in small moonstones which can be found in rays of moonlight on clear nights! Honest!
Use the mouse to steer your flitting magic moth. Your journey can only continue as long as you keep searching for the moonstones, so fly high little MoonMoth, reach for the Moon!
Press the q-key for about one second to quit the game early.
TODO: Sound (as ever). Score. "Enemies". More Powerups. Better backgrounds. Moonbeams. Better (q)uit feature. The Moon(!).

I got 437,085. I could have done a lot better (maybe even gotten the high score), but I stopped because it was boring. It took FOREVER to get back down. Great game!
Thanks for playing. I have a few things planned in order to spice the game up - any ideas anyone. You can flutter immediately to the ground by pressing the "q" key for about a second.

Thanks for playing! That IS the highscore! There's a highscore table in some comments in the project - the previous record for the latest version was 334516. Well done! :) You know, if you want an accurate measure of how high you managed to get, you don't have to wait for your moth to flutter all the way back down - you can press the q-key for about a second and you'll get the "Height reached" message.

If you mean the light-blue moonstones, you are meant to catch them. Each time you catch one you get a small boost of speed, though gravity will act to slow you down and eventually drag you back to earth. Some moonstones are a different colour and these give you an extra boost of speed, as will the star-flare.

I believe that's a new highest score! :) (I have a screenie for any non-believers :|) I would say though that if you pay attention as you're falling it's pretty much impossible to lose, because the fireflies ALWAYS save you in the end (saved me 4 times) I only lost because I couldn't be bothered to wait for them again! GG though
Yes well spotted. You can capture the fireflies when falling, but they only appear if you are travelling upward, so you do still have to try to catch a moonstone if you are in a fall, or else the fireflies won't appear. Good score, btw.
the butter flys aer good but the game you cat play
New version includes: ** Dynamic scrolling position based on your speed ** Fireflies help lift you ** Star-flares speed you along ** Clouds slow you down ** Storm-clouds can really ruin your sense of direction. It's best downloaded and played in full-screen.
Can really notice the change of difficulty, seem to be falling alot earlier!

New version, incorporating some of your comments. If you plummet all the way back down you will now be informed how high you managed to get. Watch out for those clouds unless you have the starshield, because your wings won't like getting wet... I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you all for your great comments of support. I really enjoyed making this game and it's a really good feeling to get it featured and to have such positive comments from you all. I will have to begin developing this game once more - my energies have been elsehwere recently. My current version has a cloud and a bat in it. Once I have debugged it I will post it. Thanks again.
