DO NOT FORGET! *********************************** 1. Press New to start a new Game. 2. Click in the cells to set the initial block setup for your game. 3. Change the Max Height, Low and High values to set up thresholds. 4. Press Start and watch what happens. 5. Switch to 16x16 to play on the larger board Rules: If the total number of blocks on the surrounding 8 cells is: a) less than the low value or higher than the high value a block will be removed if the cell is not empty. b) between the lower and higher values a block will be added. If the height for any column gets larger than Max Height then all blocks are removed from that column. For cells on the boarders the thresholds are adjusted. Have you heard of Peter Bone? the guy who wrote Pivot stickfigure animator? He's a smart one he is. He even wrote a game of life in Delphi. It's very fun, but alas, his site is down and the files are lost forever.

jaja yes i'd seen this. already favorited and loved 3-) great job! have u played "block drop" on miniclip? this reminded me of it, just cos of the block arrangements and the musical aspect. i love cubes <3

Lasy you never. Read the Project notes it is cool and fiddle with. download and use the turbo you will like it. I have a good remix for you but now let's keep it a mystery;=>

(view all replies)Sure. Justlet it run and try to guess what is happening read the project notes press neww click on the diamond change the sliders. mess with it and press start have fun. This like life you do not know what will a happen! Give it a lOve it if you enjoy it;p=>
(view all replies)Nice game, I Test Low 3, High 6, Max 5, 6x6 size and get interesting result, and after 16 generation have not stablize and get new pattern all the time. Be hapy for you to have one success in views.
thx. It is kind of hard for some of the younger users. the concepts that you have to play with the parameters to get some thing interesting is not very easy to digest. I will try your parameters. I have played around there and it does become intersting on the 16x16 height 1 also you can get cool things to happen.

??? The rules don't seem to be set up correctly.
Where do you think they go wron? If you press the Game of Life it will use the rules for the Game of Life. Otherwise it will always either add a block or take one off (if it is not enmpty) so it is a little different from the original rules of GOL in 3D. Please tell me if you see a bug.

(view all replies)no no I had to explain more if you go to the wikipedia you will get a good into to the Game of Life I am just adding blocks on top of each other. Read the Project Notes also. I should have put a help and am working on it. Will let you know when it is there!

Thanks so much. I am sure yours would be as good;=>if not better. Note that you can use my code to have any base or have the blocks grow more say to 10 by just doinf a couple of more sprites and changing a few variables.
(view all replies)weird... doesn't seem to work like the game of life because when I did a glider under normal settings it did weird stuff so yeah.
Darth you need to press the Game of Life Button then start your glider otherwise the behaviour is a little different for creating new blocks and adding a block and it has really no blocks remaing the same! Workd much better in the big grid with Turbo. let me know if it works for you. I have tried the glider and it does well;=>

You need to adjust the Max Height clider. Or Just press the green flag and it will do a different one every time.

Why not what happened. Did you download? It is much faster with Turbo speed see the project note.
Well, the Wiki site you mention is quit clear and allready enough information. Maybe it would be better if, instead of the “Demo”, you could show, in sequence, three or four examples how the cells born and die depending on the neigbourhood.

Wow, runs really well. I did a game of life but the performance was terrible. That was on Scratch 1.3, maybe 1.4 is better.
I know and also even if people share unless it is featured it is hard for people to find interesting projects unless you are really famous like Paddle2see the master;=>
