Great demonstration of the method! Maybe carry it one step further and have the bat move slowly around...pausing for a measurement, then turning in the direction of longest distance (looking for open area). That actually would be fairly complicated to do...requiring a sort to find the longest distance. Still...it would be cool!

The dots moving away from the bat is the sound waves. When it hits something in the environment it bounces and goes back to the bat. The bat uses the time differentence and the intensity of the sounds to determine it's environment.
