THIS IS URGENT! I am doing a thing called "Mega Madness Monday", scheduled for the first Monday of March (the 5th). The original idea was for me to make my own three games: a tycoon, RPG and adventure. Both the RPG and Adventure games are in development. However, my original intentions was to make an Airport game to go under the tycoon category, but then I remembered about our hospital game. So, if we can finish the hospital game by March 5th, it can replace the Airport game.
This means that instead of my making 3 games in 3 months (I started this on January 5th) I only have to do 2 and a half. I will get on with the other two games until you get back, then work on the hospital game again. I hope this is not too much pressure, but I am sure I can get all 2 and a half games done if you help me with just that little half, otherwise I'll have to start from scratch with II3 (International Inc 3)
I LOVE THS MUSIC!!!!!! When I update my Ultimate Mall game, can I use this
music?!?!?! I also love that music on Little Fluffies! I used that too on Ultimate Mall and gave credit to you. Also, amazing drawings!
YOU ROCK AT SCRATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I haven't been working on the hospital game, this is what I have been working on instead:
(link to project) Chicken Chow Mein!
Then, I decided that the graphics were rubbish so I restarted: (link to project) Panders Quest.
Hope you enjoy both of them! Hope you're back soon so we can finish the hospital! No rush though, I'm pretty busy anyway.
About my Sims 3 scratch project, in this project it
shows that your a really good artist. Would you help
me do the illistrations on the full version? I'm good with
the controls and all that junk but you may be a good
addition to my team of the people that are willing to help
with this Sims 3 Project. So would you help?
Formal Review pt5. One thing I've decided to review you on is your actual programming techniques,so I downloaded this and had a good look at the scripts. Of course if you think I'm just picking on you by giving you all this criticism then you're free to do the same to any of my projects. I just thought if I could give you programming-short cuts then the Hospital game would be quicker to make. So, shall I begin?
To both your comments: that's cool, thanks! It's definitely going help my programming skills, which is especially important for our game. @ jinkles7: It'll be a remix and I know the Scratcher, so it's fine, he won't claim it as his own!
So, what I am goanna do is strip-down the code myself, write loads of yellow-notes by the sides of them and then share it because, there are a lot of bits which could be gotten rid of and replaced, because imagine if you added more stuff to it, or maybe tried a Doodle Zoo 2 using such a messy script. The other reviews helped make the already-good game brilliant, so I'm hoping I can help your scripting.
Sorry I was off, I had to shower and eat dinner, then bake brownies, hehe! :) Grammys are on tonight so I probably won't be back on until tomorrow, sorry.
DO NOT REVIEW MY CITY GAME YET!!! I thought there's no point you re-looking at it when I'm making a lot of changes, mainly to accessibility and quickness. You see, scratch is a slow program, so instead of moaning and wishing scratch was faster I'm goanna make the project faster for the player (without speeding up length of days and stuff.)
Thank you very much! Do you mean zoo visitors? They don't appear, but they are still coming. Try downloading or going into Java player, scroll over Zoo Stats; you'll see your number of guests. :)
hi! sorry for bombarding your project with comments, but I've: made the laser beam work (the UFO is finally out of maintanence) ; made the menu background slightly sped up ; added 4 goals ; made days longer ; made sure research works properly without appearing at the start ; changed the starting cash amounts ; made certain buttons zoom/in and out so that the player knows it has been highlighted. Anything else needing doing???
Nope, that's it! And awesome, it's good you've done everything. I may review it again in the next day or two. Also, I will visit that topic in the forums soon to see if I still will join. ;)
OMIGOSH THIS IS TOTALLY EPIC!!! I love the way you redid everything! I sincerely think this should be featured. =) Also, I think selling stuff would be neat, because I accidently placed a food cart on my zebra's head. :x
THANKS A LOT! Lol a food cart on a zebra's head. XD I think selling things would be complex, but I will consider it! Thanks. You can recommend this to be featured, but since Little Fluffies was curated and Doggie Designer was featured, I doubt they will allow another project to be front-paged so quickly! XD
by the way you getting the hang of my game? This has been the ultimate project- the city project that has been going on since mid August (22nd of August to be precise). So I would be grateful if you could review it soon, so then I can fix everything and FINALLY I can finish it before 22nd of Novemeber (that's 3 whole months in total!!!)
Okay, I gave the first two parts to the review in two separate comments. I'll give more later on, when I have the chance to fully inspect it. I would have replied to my first comment, but each time I tried, the reply wouldn't appear. If you see two or three different replies pop up to that comment, sorry, hehe!
(starting a new one 'cause it's getting quite messy) thanks for taking everything i said into consideration- some scratchers would argue and not listen to anyone else. then again- that'd probably be me anyways!
Also, if you do decide to download my city project, before you exit press SDF SPACE and you will see that:
S = City tiles appear in front
D = Interface and couple other sprites move in front of that
F = More sprites push in front
SPACE = All variables show on screen
Okay. I noticed when I was playing that space made all the variables appear... I was wondering why! But now I see. That's the first time I've seen it done... that's a pretty neat idea. Also, how would I fix the variable location issue? They're all bunched up in the top, left corner, when they should be in the panel "Zoo Stats". Is it possible to fix this? By the way, just updated the game further! Look in the project notes to see what's new.
Formal Review pt3. Well I am very impressed with the improvements made. However, it still has the dull light grey/ dark white interface. IT IS STILL EASY THOUGH. Maybe instead of reducing cash, maybe you need to add more things to worry about. For example, the size of your car park indicates the MAXIMUM number of guests you can hold no matter how many animals you have, and a bus stop (eventually upgraded to national coach park and eventually and upgrade to route to the nearest airport...
I am still updating and coloring the interface. I will share the new update in just a moment. I understand your point about the financial difficulty issue, so I will make it a possibility to make it harder. Your idea does sound a bit complex, but it's a good thought and I will keep it in mind. I do need to fix the variable issue, but I'm not sure what you're saying. Could you explain it further? And thanks for the compliment. This was intended to be a fun, playful game with challenges, so I'm...
therefore meaning you can have international guests) and thus increasing your capacity. However, I honestly think this would be too complex, so do not worry. However, smaller and simpler ideas which have huge impact would really push the game's intelligence and difficulty without a quick hash of the cash. Maybe the button SPACE could be used to set the positions of the variables and objects. On my city game for example, EVERYTIME I exit I press S,D,F, SPACE. S,D,F, sets which sprites appear...
OH. MY. GOSH. DewleafWolf, this is truly, epically AMAZING!!! The backrounds are beautiful, and the decorations are really awesome!!! If you want I'll advertise for this in Paper Zombie or Catboodle. :) Love and a fav....why not? =D
THANKS A BUNCH! And advertising it would be awesome! Thank you! Just tell me which projects you're advertising it in, so I can advertise them in return for you! Remember, more Doodle Zoo updates coming in the future. Glad you like it all so far!!
remember the 2 part formal review i sent you? well, i was wondering whether you could do the same for my city game when it comes out in a day or so. there's a lot to do but i'm sure it won't take too long to get through everything. just a few final buildings.
SO COOL! But I can't remix because I have one computer with internet (Relatives' computer!) and another with no internet, but it has the Scratch program... Yeah, I currently can't meet in the middle! But when one gets Scratch or the other gets internet, I'll remix definitely!!
Nice! I am making something like this. But instead you make your own city. This is really good! Maybe next time you can even add a process where the data gets saved!
Yeah, I was thinking about that! And I love city makers! Good luck on that, I'll definitely play it! Oh, and I'm making a poker game soon... It's gonna be awesome. :D
you stopped me posting messages on the other project... but you can join in... keep scrolling down until you find the "epic tycoon game needs help" and i've also realeased the them park game too!
All right! I'm still willing to help. Check out my reply on your formal review. I still am unable to share or remix or download projects. I know, I'm probably really getting on your nerves.
Thank you! Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate the comment, coming from you! Maybe Doodle Zoo will get featured when I make a second version, one with better layout detail, more awards, better difficulty and overall improved gameplay...!
Thank you! I know, I was in a hurry because we were literally just about to pack up and move, so I finished the last award and shared it. Don't worry, there will probably be more later on. (I may make a new version of Doodle Zoo later on, too!) Sorry for the late reply!
Formal Review pt1: It is worrying that the animals are not kept in cages, unless of course they have genetically modified brains to allow them not to harm the guests. The beach graphics are OK, but would require some extra detail. Also, the interfaces are neat and clean, but rather boring. Also, the menu was confusing because I was expecting the selected option to be white and the others greyed out instead of the opposite...
Also, regarding my computer access status, it's very complicated. I have one computer in the house I'm at that has internet, allowing me to type this right now, then another computer which has all my Scratch projects, but no internet. Just in case you were wondering why I'm still not on! (I'm still working on Scratch, but I can't post anything.)
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the formal review. Here is my response to part one: animal exhibits will probably come in a future v.2 of Doodle Zoo, but for now the animals are an icon for the entire exhibit. I understand the layout is slightly boring, but I would probably add more detail in a future version. I made this as a prototype, really. My response to part two is in a reply to that comment.
Formal Review pt2: Maybe a scroll feature to enable more space (not where the map scrolls as a window, but just 2 bars in the bottom right corners) and also an agreement between "top-down" and "side-view" objects, where all objects are from the same angle. Also, considering how much you need to spend in the game, you do not need all of that starting cash, even on hard. Overall: The music is good, the graphics are OK, difficulty is too easy but good overall.
Download the 71 sprites and 231 scripts of "Doodle Zoo" and open it in Scratch
Project Notes
Works well in either Java or Flash, but each has its pros and cons here. A big thanks to Borrego6165 for giving me formal reviews, they helped tremendously!
UPDATE: (Sorry, sounds and images are NOT compressed in this update.) In addition to previous updates, I've improved the cart graphics. Give me your opinion! I still will add: new animal costumes, (maybe new animals, buildings, and/or decorations) possibly a terrain feature, more awards, actual animal exhibits, any glitch fixes, and more! I might also make the music button turn the volume to 0 instead of stopping and restarting the loop. Leave your creative suggestions in a comment and I may add them.
