Haha! I've finally figured out a way of making 3D depth in Scratch!
Unless you enjoy bad sizing and jagged lines, use flash player.
Note that there is no rotation yet, due to the fact that sprites can't be skewed to fit 3D faces (like on the crate). Also, I just don't know how to make rotations yet. :/
Anyways, if you love it, there's a button for that.

i liked the slower moving version better.
I had a much easier version, but it was also much more rubbisherer. Good job! (even though it's not very developed)
Very well done. But to everyone commenting on making 3D games; Scratch is not capable of making such games a "Minecraft". It was designed as a gateway program to introduce people in to the programming industry. If you ever want to become a game designer you are going to have to take the time to learn a programming language such as blender. But otherwise good luck!

(view all replies)Blender isn't a programming language. Its a 3D modeling/animating tool with a built in basic logic engine for simple 3D games. A better example would be Java, C++, or python.

Lol. I making it work like a modern FPS would sacrifice too much performance this way. Feel free to try and modify it though.

rotation of 3d objects in space is theoretically possible, but the technique is really just not practically applicable

I have this problem to Making rotations as i was gonna make A game like minecraft and a 3D Car game but i can't do this in scratch

tf2 is OK. I suck at it though... My favorite is either heavy or pyro.

to make a rotation work, add 3-D sprites based on 2-D object. Search rotating 3-D sprite to see an example.
You could make the game wireframe, which would make rotation easier.

I am thoroughly impressed. If Scratch got its program working properly (actually allowing sprites and coordinates to be offscreen), this would be flawless.
This could either be a revolution or a pointless project. I can envision an FPS where you only walk forward down some long hall, or the turns are made for you. I can also imagine having a crosshair that moves only up and down, but not side to side. I wish I had enough time to make a project like that, and I may, someday. I have the capability, at least. It was obvious how you did that.

I think I know something that will make this better. HAX! I has a ton of hax on my scratch. I'm going to remix it with hacks. Sadly I won't be able to upload it because of the hacks. Isn't hax and awesome word?
