Cyclone, look, I made an interesting discovery that, to my knowledge, so far, is a better program for "doubling" a sprite, though, yours is more complicated
Actually, that is because the way that I programmed it, it will blink and take longer for each passing group of ten. I did this to speed it up. It just has to do with the way the repeat block is used.

hey I just thought, 11 instances per regulator, if u had ten regulators, that would mean over 100 instances, that would be enough for an age of empires game :)

Thanks! I know! They really have the potential to save us many, many sprites! I might even be able to make a better version of my Tower Defense now that I can have as many towers as I want, and not have to make more than one.
Even though I doubt this will work online, I wanted to share it anyway. This shows that you can have an unlimited number of sprite instances, with a duplicate code, and they only start to REALLY lag around 30 or so. I sped up the process massively by using one particular method. It wont really start lagging at all till 11 or so. Enjoy! Just a sample.
More instances spawn every 5 seconds.
WORKS ONLINE!!! WOOT!!!!
The lag is not Scratch being overloaded, it is the inability to update the screen as fast as it has to.

Curious, on my PC the first 10 square move smoothly (quickly or slowly) but the next squares move and blink...

True, but it might only work using a certain image file. I will see what I can do.....
(view all replies)Yes, but it would not run as quickly online. In teh Java player, it interprets the commands as coded IN JAVA, so it would only work offline.
