Was the 1.2.1 source changed within the past 2 months, because I can't find the BlockSpecs in scriptablescratchmorph. I'm looking to make working blocks but I don't know where exactly I would make the blocks right now. Could you enlighten me to the new source code equvalent of Blockspecs? Or point me in the right direction?
You have to have the image file. Download it at http://scratch.mit.edu/files/source-code/ScratchSource1.2.1.zip
and drag it onto the scratch icon. When asked to select an image file when you open Scratch, click the source. When you want to use the regular one the next time, click the regular one (scratch)
what is the normal one? I did everthing like i wasw supposed to but it still dosn't work. I I know which one is normal than i can find the abnormal. THX for the help
I know how to make one more easily. You just go to Scratch, right click on the white screen, select grab screen region for new sprite. Then go to the blocks, select around the block you want, and turn it into a sprite. After that open it in Paint or something and erase the grey. After that use the color selector, choose the color of the block, and use it over the letters. Finally write in your name.
I taught myself about the coding and the structure of the system browser, Jens taught me about change sets and how to open scratch within the source and stuff related to that.
hey, are you a good squeakr, if you are, could you help me make custom blocks, like arrays, and making a cleaner space so maybe i could make a finished game, and i am trying python, do you know python? i am using pygame too
Well, you have to drag the image file onto teh scratch icon, assuming you have one on your desktop, and when the squeak prompt pops up select the source image. When u wanna open regular Scratch again after using that, you have to locate the regular image file.

Can you do it in 1.3?

Sure, but you have to have the source for that instead of 1.2.1.

The 1.2.1 source is exactly the same. Are you sure you are coding in class instead of instance?

(view all replies)Comment Reply
You can actually make it do stuff, if you code the block properly. This is also (sorta) a tutorial for making functional blocks.

Drag it onto the scratch shortcut (assuming you have one) and when asked to select an image file, pick it instead of the normal one.

But this way, people learn how to make their own blocks without even realizing it! I mean functional ones, not just dummies.
