it's too confusing because the things come out at the same place and I don't know where they're going to go.
214, first try.
Cool project, I don't know what's wrong with my guitar hero project
Hey, I haven't done any work on this for a while. I did design an interface for it and some 3d animations. But didn't put it together yet. Someone did a remix that lets you record the timings of songs with this version, and I wrote him how to improve, somewhere below. Sorry. It is a good idea to finish what you start. I'm just not always good at that.
If you're interested in working on it, I can give you what I have so far and tips to imporve.
Do you have a old Mac or hadrdrive, cause that would be why, and if you have a Mac, get Windows, Windows is faster, works better, has better graphics and sound, and to top it off, Mac don't get Intel processors which make them slower than heck.
Hi, It's slow, do you mean it lags, or it moves choppy, or both? I've been alright. Did ask for a green goo fluid simulation a while back? Sorry, I couldn't find the message. I made it. It's just huge, a bunch of frames.
Ah man , notes don't move smoothly , they move terribly.Good test though , add a rock meter though , and it don't even work good at all , but thats a test for you!
Thanks! I've tried it on a couple computers, but I need to know how it works for most people. I may have to use other way to show the notes online that doesn't lag.
i'm trying to remix, but I'm still fubling around trying to figure out what arrays do what. I know hwat song.all.notes does, but I can' get the timing arrays to work in harmony...
To do list: perhaps rework scoring to use lists so that multiple players could be added easily. might be slower though. apply scoring rules and counters (multipliers... note combos...) complete graphics, menus, release as light version. add multiple instruments,, voice should even be possible. (when downloaded.) perhaps as multiple players if it doesn't slow down too much.
I'm now trying to look through the code and create a new song. I think the information about the keys is stored in the lists "song.all.notes" and "song.all.timing", right? So I only have to change those lists or is there more that has to be changed?
New score: 362 ^^
Oh, and the other difference that's needed for the note timing recorder, is that if 2 keys are pressed at once, it needs to be the exact same time, when people hit buttons, they probably wont be the exact same time. so perhaps have a threshold of .05 seconds or something, when a button is pressed, it looks at the last item in the list, if it's within that threshold, it uses the last time. without that, chords/scoring wont work right.
Cool! I haven't made it easy to record timing in this version yet. It's about the same as the old. the big difference is that the "chord maker" script needs to be ran after the notes are changed. It creates chord list, combines notes that are the same time... so it's easier to score than the individual notes.
Ok, new version. Completely rewritten. Now the strum detection and scoring works. (Still needs multipliers... better graphics.) But as is it should be more fun to play. Post your best score!
I looked a bit through your code and I don't understand what the space key is used for. After deleting the space-check it worked very well but now I was able to hold down the buttons always. I think that's what it was used for, right? The if tree is really big, I even had to extend scratch onto my 2nd screen ^^
Thanks! I think I know make it work now... so I'm rewriting everything. Instead of this big "if" tree comparing the notes and keys, break down the song into chords and- make a sum of the chord: (+1 for first fret, +2 for second, +4 for 3rd, +8 for 4th, +16 for the 5th. (and +32 for strum/spacebar)) then compare the sums. and compare the chord time with the actual time... It should work much faster then sensing for every key. hopefully fast enough for multiple players too. :)
I seem to be unable to score. anyways, it took a while for me to figure out which color goes with which button and i'm still not sure, so making a bkg with labels would help :) all in a, very good yet very difficult.
Good suggestion. Yeah, It lags at the first and is choppy online but plays fine in scratch on this windows computer. But on my Linux computer it's fine online, but not in scratch. I think I know what to do...
Song: "Bang Bang Mystery Man" by Mary Jo Feat - Tommy Inkila Medium difficulty. Sound and notes midi file from Frets on Fire. (Free open source Guitar Hero clone.)

0!!i hit a note and nutting happens!
just played it on the scratch program, not the website. score 286!
doesn't seem to respond fast enough for computers with a 1.5ghz processer online, can you fix that please?
OMG SO FUN :D Although you never use the 5th button so you just get rid of that part.
342
i can rock out on real guitar! (not this)

darn one less than actioncat i got 348!!! :( lol XD
318, just curious, have you done any work on this? Have you made it easier to add songs? :)

(view all replies)I recently got a new harddrive, and its FAST FAST like it should be, even on the internet, great job, and my new score is 349, on the internet!
That's my best score! Meanwhile... Muahahaha!!!
289 on my first try! YAY! this is good. but kind of hard. it would be better if you could keep track of where they are with some kind of background...
223, :)
not bad. i got 238 my first time. still alittle slow, but good. how you been?
So go to PC if you have a Mac, Windows have a Intel processor so they are super fast.
Do you have a old Mac or hadrdrive, cause that would be why, and if you have a Mac, get Windows, Windows is faster, works better, has better graphics and sound, and to top it off, Mac don't get Intel processors which make them slower than heck.

(view all replies)New score 287.
And I meant compress stuff only if you are going to share it.
And if you didn't , you need to compress the music , only have one song , and , compress images and sound.
I got it working , my score was 245 , I downloaded it.
Ah man , notes don't move smoothly , they move terribly.Good test though , add a rock meter though , and it don't even work good at all , but thats a test for you!

online, its a little laggy, offline its exellent...
I made a remix with a new song, but it was linked wrong.. oO (link to project)

yeah, feel free to remix.

(view all replies)Wow! Now it runs really good! A lot of improvements compared to the old one. Now you only need better graphics and more songs ;) score: 303 :P
294. so how does this play on your computer does it run smooth? does it lag allot?
Ok, new version. Completely rewritten. Now the strum detection and scoring works. (Still needs multipliers... better graphics.) But as is it should be more fun to play. Post your best score!

You got good action sript talent but how about costume animation talent.
wana a be on scratch got talent, click my user icon and show the world talent

The space key is the strumming key. It's cool you looked at it. I'm working on redesigning everything now... and including a tutorial mode.
Good idea, but there's still no line that shows when I have to press the keys and the counter's also not working.
Thanks! I think I know make it work now... so I'm rewriting everything. wow this is looking better. except the score conter isn't working for me.
Does it run smoothly for you? Please love it if you do!
It can now record notes timing so you can remix and add your own music and make it as easy or hard as you like.
YES! Great updates! Much easier and more fun, thx!
Ok, new version, has lines and feed back now. the "d" key opens debuging, where you can see how many marker sprites are available and tweak settings.
I seem to be unable to score. anyways, it took a while for me to figure out which color goes with which button and i'm still not sure, so making a bkg with labels would help :) all in a, very good yet very difficult.
Agreed. Thanks! I'll soon post an update so it does better at scoring, and lables!
(view all replies)I like it. Maybe a bar that shows you when to pres the buttons.
Good suggestion. Yeah, It lags at the first and is choppy online but plays fine in scratch on this windows computer. But on my Linux computer it's fine online, but not in scratch. I think I know what to do...
(view all replies)It's one of the best, but very confusing at first.
Thanks, yeah it needs more work.
(view all replies)ok, made more improvements, may work better when downloaded. 505 is my best score now.
=O your... score... 505!?
ah, strumming still doesn't work great...
304. :D
only 199 its really lagy/choppy, otherwise good.
Thanks for testing. that's good. I changed how it detects the strumming. Still working on it.
(view all replies)255, Do the marker move smooth or choppy for you? It's pretty choppy for me now, I probably need to change how it detects the strumming.
197 is my best score. It doesn't register the presses well yet. /excuse. :)
does register for me at all :)
awesome!!!
Thanks, :)
